Is Augusta National the second best venue in sports?

It’s no match for Clemson’s Memorial Stadium and overhyped, but I do think it’s in the running for second place.
I know someone that’s been there before and he said they don’t sell hot dogs at the concession stands. I literally can’t imagine a sporting event without hot dogs and/or nachos. I also think that they paint their grass which we don’t do.

They also have been known to put ice around the base of their azaleas to keep them from blooming before the tournament. Premature flowering must be very embarrassing.

That’s a myth

I asked an ANGC member about that years ago, and he laughed. He said there’s not that ice in the whole city of Augusta. For example, there are more than one thousand azaleas on the 13th hole alone.

I’ve seen the pics. Don’t have any, but seen them. They don’t ice all of them, just those around the greens in Amen Corner that get the most TV time.

If I’d have to venture a guess, I’d say it’s real.
The tell tale sign that they paint the grass is the crosswalks. The paint wears off on people’s shoes. The crosswalks end up losing their color as a result. I’m honestly surprised people don’t call them out for it.

Augusta National does not paint grass ..... never has. I have been going to Clemson games since the mid 50's and to the Masters since 1962 and both are terrific. However, Clifford Roberts, the founder, along with Bobby Jones, would be rolling over in his grave knowing what has been going on at Augusta the past number of years. Frank Howard, I suspect, is resting peacefully!

I can’t tell if you’re serious or not. How can you say a golf course that doesn’t sell hot dogs is the best venue in sports? Even my home muni has a machine that rotates hot dogs under heat lamps. They’re certifiably delicious.
Also, Augusta National doesn’t have assigned seating. When I go to Death Valley, my seat is reserved for me. No questions asked.
Those two factors alone should disqualify them from the top spot. I was being nice by offering them the number two spot. If we are being brutally honest, they should be behind a handful of other NCAA football stadiums and someplace fancy like the rodeo in Calgary.
