Just watching the Ceremonial Starter ceremony from Augusta

National. Sadly, Jack Nicklaus is really showing the frailties of old age now. Enjoy him while we still have him, I have a feeling his time with us is rapidly drawing to a close. For my money, the greatest golfing MIND to ever play the game. I would grant that Tiger had more physical talent, but nobody ever thought their way around a golf course better than Jack Nicklaus. If only both of them could have stayed young forever.

That's the truth! And the way he concentrated on......

things even with all the pressure and the spectators around him - Tiger is/was the same in that regard. It's no wonder these two golfers separated themselves from all other pro golfers. It's hard to believe Jack's last Masters win was 35 years ago now - seems like yesterday watching that on TV.

electric, to say the least.

Even more so if you realize, as he said in an interview years later, his companies were in a rare financial struggle at the time, due to some bad investments. Amazing that he was able to concentrate on playing the tournament, putting business thoughts out of his mind.

He said that sales of that "abomination" Macgregor Response ZT oversize putter he used to win it helped his company out tremendously immediately after the tournament.

Jack could have used a “tobacco stick” . . .

and out-putted everyone any of us knows . . .

Back in the day if I had to pick one person to make a putt if my life depended on it there is no doubt it would have been Jack. I grew up following Arnie all over the course at Augusta but as time passed, Jack was the greatest.

I agree but the announcers talk Tiger to the nauseating level.

Jack was amazing to watch as was Tiger. When they made the turn on the final day of a tournament and the roars got louder, you could see competitors start to wilt.
