Athletes & normal peoples..did you realize that up to 1/3 of what

you eat is feeding the good & bad bacteria bugs in your gut, called microbiomes?
Me neither til I got into foods and various healthy diets like the Whole-Food Plant Based diet (no meat, oils, bread & diary..the one Tom Brady is on except he eats some fish) or Keto or low carbs/high fat, etc. diets.
If you want to make the good bacteria happy, feed them fermented products like sauerkraut or good grade of sugarless & natural unflavored yogurt.
Oh, don't forget foods with FIBER!!
Good gut health can positively affect mental health (aka the Gut to Brain syndrome where they communicate thru the Vegas chord) as well as slowing down auto-immune conditions.
Lowering your Sugar intake is a must..
and did you know beer is more harmful than liqueur or wine since it not only has alcohol but yeast & purines!

So I guess my big beer and supper tonight at the Mexican restaurant was not on your list. You are right but changing eating habits is harder retirement job than I want.

I've been working on attaining a proper balance of good and bad bacteria for a few years now. I have gotten off track at times, but am hopeful that this will be the year that I can declare success. Maintaining discipline is a big challenge, but I am getting back on track again.

I suggest the following experts
Jul 6, 2022, 12:30 AM
|
|
Dr. Robert Lustig Dr. Jason Fung Dr. Peter Attia
They’re all on YouTube. Excellent presentations by one and hours of hard science.
Also look up the YouTube channel low-carb down under.
Watch the documentary “Fat Fiction”. Google it for options to stream, including some that are free.
The Germans were doing this research back in the 1920s. But of course after the war no one wanted anything to do with German doctors unless they could help with the space race.

Correct!!! How do you fatten up livestock?? Feed them grains, plants, etc. I am a Carnivore believer myself, only because it works and I feel better. Cured my fatty Liver Disease almost immediately. Even skin tags on my legs went away. I was inflaming my system with grains for years and didn't even know it. Carnivore and/or Keto is the only thing that makes sense and I eat massive amounts of steaks, bacon, eggs, cheese and pork.......everything I love to eat. Down about 40 lbs in 90 days and liver test are normal. Only way to go.

You can take cattle put them on grass and let them graze for nearly 2 years. At that point actually long before that point you have a mature cow. Then feed them nothing but corn for 90 days before slaughter and look at how much weight that mature cow gains and how much it changes the chemistry and the fat content of the cow. It’s crazy.

Not sugar.

Dr. Robert Lustig in his presentations shows a chart of the history of sugar in the human diet. It’s shocking! We barely ate sugar until just recently. And it went up exponentially in our diet after World War II. The human body didn’t develop eating sugar. Actually the reason things like keto, carnivore, Paleo, are so successful is because that’s how we ate as we evolved and developed. The diet we ate as hunter gatherers.
Sugar is what’s killing people. It’s what’s causing heart disease cancer etc. and almost everything you eat and drink has sugar in it. Excess sugar that’s just not necessary. You have to learn how to read labels because sugar comes in many forms and of course almost everything has HFCS.

For some reason Tnet won't let me TU this post, but TU. For many years now, I refuse to buy anything with HFCS on the label. I really need to do my research on sugar.

And search Dr. Robert Lustig. This guy has been doing research on sugar for 20 years. He has on YouTube presentations that he’s given to other doctors over the years for his research. He goes deep into the data and the science.

It all depends on the body type you want, those things won’t work for people wanting to be muscular. If you just like to exercise and look like a fitness advocate, all that is perfect. And there is nothing wrong with that, it’s probably overall healthier for your heart and body to eat that way, building muscle in the short term really stresses the body. But if you want to look good and be muscular, you have to eat proteins carbs and fats at the right percentages. I will say you seem like you are a healthy active old dude so do you and what works for you.
