Walked in to Walgreens today

Aug 17, 2021, 8:05 PM

Walked up to the pharmacy counter , asked for a booster shot of Phyzer. Showed them my existing vaccine card with my two Phyzer shots documented at CVS. And had the shot in less than 20 minutes.

Walgreens is doing the walk ins welcome. CVS is currently making people do an online appt. BTW the booster shot is simply another dose just like your first two.

No booster for Johnson & Johnson yet.

No questions asked?

I heard that the booster was for folks who had underlying conditions, the elderly and had to be a minimum of 8 months after your second shot. I hope I heard wrong. I will get the booster as soon as I can.

Very, very happy- very, very proud.

At Walgreens they had a form for me to sign , that required you to check one of two boxes . One box said that you had one of the critical conditions that caused you to be more likely to have serious cases of Covid.

The other box said , you did not have one of tho listed conditions but that you wanted the booster anyway.

Check either box and you get the shot.

I wish I had snapped a picture of the form

Thanks!

They have never checked for anything other than your age.

You just check a box saying you have underlying conditions. They don’t need a doctors note.

Thanks for sharing. I had heard that the FDA was considering approval for everyone but had not yet given it. I'll check it out tomorrow. It will be 8 months since my second shot next week.

Oops, I just remembered. I got Moderna. But, my wife got Pfizer. I'll check for her.

Both Moderna and Pfizer qualify. Not J&J but they are working on one for it.

They were doing both Moderna and Phyzer boosters . I happened to be Phyzer . Lady in front of me was Moderna

Did they happen to go ahead and give you the “P” tattoo on your forehead, and the “M” for her?

Or does that come with the next “booster”?

I thought one of the qualifying questions would be: do you

That's awesome. I have a question though

Aug 17, 2021, 10:34 PM

I had seen on the news that Walgreens was doing that. And I told my 80 year old parents about it. THey both got their second dose on Feb. 10. I really want to advise them to go get the booster asap, but I don't know if they should wait until the 8 month mark which would be early October. Not sure what they should do.

I got my second dose in April so I may wait. But again not sure. Even though I'm 58, I do have an underlying condition. The eight month deal is the only thing that keeps me from going in there tomorrow.

Any suggestions?

Did you have to get your first shots at Walgreens?

Aug 17, 2021, 10:42 PM

I got mine at the vaccination center by Greenville Hospital.

My first two were at CVS, I got the booster at Walgreens. My reason was Walgreens allows for walk-ins.

I'll probably get my booster at 8-9 months

Aug 18, 2021, 1:15 AM

Which would be December/January.

Moderna

The wife and I are going on a cruise on 8/23. Therefore I wanted to get the booster ASAP (normally need about 14 days for it to be effective). I got my Moderna booster on August 11. My first two vaccines in January were Pfizer. I wanted the enhanced immunity that most get by doing this combo. Remember, this is not costing the drugstores anything but their time. They don't really care if you truly are eligible for the booster yet. Just check whatever box you need to get your booster. I had a sore injection site the next day...The wife had fever/aches for 24 hrs. If you feel like you're ethically wrong for getting a vaccination ahead of someone that truly qualifies, CVS in Hemingway, SC had to throw out 300 doses because they expired before anyone utilized them.
PS: By the end of the month (or sooner) EVERYONE will be eligible for the booster...don't wait on the nightly news to tell you the right thing to do for your family's health. See you in Charlotte.

A couple of comments since my original post for clarification.

1. I went first to CVS in Bradenton FL, with my vaccine card (both my first two vaccines were phyzer at CVS, with the second shot on 4/7). I went to CVS because I was not sure if I had to go to the same place as my first shots. CVS whith no one in the whole store , told me they were doing them but by appt only, and I had to do that online.

2.I walked out of CVS and across the street to the Walgreens store in Bradenton FL on 8-17, They were making announcements over the PA for Covid Vaccines and Booster shots with no appt required.

3. I went to the pharmacy desk, and the cashier (turns out the cashier was also the Vaccine shot giver) laid down one sheet of paper on the counter and asked me for my drivers license. I started to also give him a note from my doctor about my diabetes that I had from my first vaccines. He said its not needed if I check the second box , and it save filling out other form information. (Maybe this guy was just lazy? but he wasn't whispering or acting like there was something nefarious in this. The second box basically said, I do not have a serious chronic underlying condition but want the booster anyway. While sitting waiting to get the shot I heard/three other customers say they want the booster, and were instructed similarly. None of them had a note from doc, or tried to say t hat they had underlying conditions.

4. In Summary, I and at least three other customers got the booster yesterday at this walgreens without meeting the conditions, or attesting to t he fact that we had underlying conditions.

5.After reading some other's posts here , and noting there different experiences, I wonder if my Walgreen pharmacy guy was a "rogue operator" of this walgreens is a "Vaccine Mill"? I thought that I was spreading good news to those T-netters that wanted the booster shot. Now I wonder if I stumbled in to the equivalent of a "vaccine crack house".

6. I will be very interested to read about other folks experiences getting the Booster shot at Walgreens.
