Mask Question
Feb 28, 2022, 9:57 AM
|
|
how many of you are still wearing the mask? Went to an event this weekend and chuckled at the people waiting in line, outside, with a mask on. I think some folks will never let go of the mask.

Mask answer

Why do you care? What difference does it make if someone wants to wear a mask in an attempt to try and help them? What if they have someone in their family that is immunocompromised? What if they have someone in their family that cannot get the vaccine because of a health condition, or they aren't old enough to get an FDA approved dose?
For once, just think about someone elses situation outside of your flat billed lifestyle.

maskers haven't been a bunch of insufferable, virtue signaling asssholes for the better part of 2 years, because they absolutely have. I watched a guy in Total Wine freak out on another dude because he had his mask under his nose. My wife and sisters have both had people say some rude things to them for running in somewhere without a mask, I've gotten some looks but unfortunately nobody has ever made a remark.
And you know what? At the end of the day the masks didn't make any difference in the spread of covid.

acceptable to have to suffer the near life ending consequences of having to wear a mask to save grandma?
Because based on your posting history and overall conspiracy theory vibes you put down... even if it was shown to reduce spread by 100%, youd probably shift your approach to, "I don't trust the numbers, government bad hrrnng"

Nice pivot to the 'conspiracy theorist' accusation, I'd counter that by saying even if it was shown to reduce spread by 0%, you'd probably continue on with your tact of "well it's the right thing to do".....I mean, because that's literally what you're doing right now. The best study we've got comes from rural Bangladesh where they nannied the #### out of people into wearing surgical masks (Not cloth masks like the majority of people in the US have been wearing), and they came up with an estimated risk reduction of 11%. That's terrible, and should tell you that it's really not worthwhile but somehow you got the opposite conclusion from it.
You know what was worse for grandma? Locking her down in her nursing home like she's a murderer doing a life sentence. But nobody wants to talk about that, just mask up and get your booster! Disclaimer: You'll probably still get covid anyway lol

about masks. Not in any interaction, store, or anything. I know it happens, I just haven't seen it.
The only thing I have seen/heard is anti-maskers rant. That I've seen in person quite a bit, always from people I know.
Again, I understand there are a number of perspectives out there. Every interaction I've personally seen has been a) folks that DGAF and make their own choice or b) folks that think mask wearing is some governmental outreach that will lead to communism, gun round ups, socialism, and the end of the world as we know it.

while golfer comes by and yells at her - "you don't have to wear it outside."
She yells back - "I wearing it because I am spraying our plants."
Wear a mask vs don't wear a mask is a stupid confrontation imo. But maskers and anti-maskers like to live and die on that hill.

My three year old was required to wear one at daycare for a while and they made these little lanyards for them to hang around their necks. She, and all the other girls apparently, liked to wear the lanyard mask combo as if it were a necklace. But never as a mask.

Feb 28, 2022, 10:15 AM

all or part of 7 of them (3 Clemson softball, 3 Clemson baseball, 1 Boston U vs Akron softball). Thousands of people in attendance. Other than the catchers and umpires behind the plate ">, I saw zero masks (so none of the masks you are referring to). Me and my buddy had a contest to see who could spot the first one, and we both came up empty. I spoke to one of the visiting Boston U softball players who was sitting behind me at one game, she remarked to me that she was beyond delighted to witness this phenomenon.
I do see a few lingering masked humans in the grocery stores from time to time, usually employees (not all of them, just some). And an occasional shopper, usually an aged senior citizen.

Everybody just wears them as chin straps for the most part, it's all theater just like it has been for years at this point. You're right, many will never let it go...which is fine, as long as they don't start trying to harass everybody else into wearing them again.
But I do LOL at the people with cloth masks, those are the true clowns.

IDGAF about why people do or don't wear a mask. Those consumed with it need to find better hobbies.
HOW MANY PEOPLE STILL GET A NEWSPAPER DELIVERED? Just as interesting of a question with same level of DGAF for me.

required. Other than that, I almost always wear one when I go into a store. We're talking like two to three times per week. I don't put a tremendous amount of thought into it since it doesn't even register as a sacrifice. Either it's beneficial or has no effect, so there's no downside. Once the weather gets warmer I'll probably go back to being unmasked indoors.
Masks are like skub.

with me/on hand for when I go to most places. If I feel like it's too germy, I'll wear it. This is typically in places with a lot of strangers - those that don't know where they've been, nor do I care what they think.

doing so less and less in my private life. Went to one place over the weekend where everyone was masked and I followed suit. Otherwise, I'm seeing fewer all the time. I have ditched mine at the gym, but did wear it during the Omicron wave. I still feel the need in the grocery store, but that's probably silly, since I don't wear one in restaurants.

I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable in public. When I was young I asked the pastor of our church if he wanted to fish with me after church. He was a family friend and we spent time on the water together. He gave me a look. I said it's not a sin to fish on Sunday at least because we're not making a living; it's recreation for us.
He smiled and said 'Everybody doesn't know that.' We need more Rev. Don Nations in the world today.
