I wanna know:
1) best way to travel there from GSP area
2) best practices for securing 2 tickets
3) where to stay
4) where to eat
5) what else to see and do

GO TIGERS

GO TIGERS

That's a lot of info in a small thread but here goes...

Jun 21, 2022, 11:59 AM

1) Use Google Flights to check the various flight options. In my experience, driving to Atlanta or Charlotte rather than flying out of GSP can be a money saver.
2) By tickets through Tiger Tickets or a third party broker like StubHub.
3) The options are limitless. Having been several times, we generally stay in the vicinity of Copley Square
4) Again, the options are limitless but one place I would highly recommend is the Barking Crab.
5) Fenway Park, Freedom Trail, Boston Tea Party, Sam Adams Brewery, JFK Presidential Museum

Best trip you will ever make.

Plenty of great hotels downtown. I always stay in Cambridge near Harvard or MIT I love that part of the city.

You will use the MTA to travel. Don’t even think of taking a car!!!

City is filled with American history.

Nothing is better than a game in Fenway. Hopefully the Sox will be playing!

Great restaurants everywhere

Great shopping areas in the city.

Be prepared. 90o/o of the people you see will be students. I don’t know where the old people are in that city.
Flights into Logan are numerous.

Don’t Drive!!!!

Harbour area is super.

You will remember this trip forever.
BC fans are great. The locals are all nice. BC has a
Great campus and the stadium is very nice.

Don’t even think of taking a car anywhere!!!

I booked our flights out of Charlotte to Boston. Around $330 round trip.

Going on Wednesday morning because the Red Sox last regular scheduled game is that day against Toronto. Tickets are cheap right now as well, around $25 each.

Taking the wife to Martha's Vineyard on Thursday and to Kennebunkport on Friday. Hopefully make it by the Cheers bar sometime during the weekend.

Staying in the Waltham area right off of I-95 to have "easy" access.

Flying home Monday so may catch the Patriots-Lions game on Sunday. Those tickets start at $200 each so may not make that one.

Never been to Boston so certainly looking forward to it!!

I went a few years ago (saw a great game from a freshman Clemson back named Spiller).

Tigers lost, but had a great time. Stay downtown and take the train (the "T") to Chestnut Hill. I walked part of the Freedom Trail and you can't go wrong with dining options. Eat at least 1 meal in the North End.

A bonus on my trip was that we got to meet & day hi to the late Tim Russert. His son was a student there and Tim worked a grill as we walked by.

Tim Russert. Well done my man.

Would love to pair it with Red Sox game.

Jun 21, 2022, 12:48 PM

Their last game of ‘22 is Wednesday the 8th vs TB… Boston is 1 of 9 MLB teams that I have not been able to visit (yet). By most accounts, going to BC home game is a lot like a HS Friday night, but in a great city to go sightseeing in for about a week.

If you want to go to a Boston game - make sure you get

tickets in advance. We tried and could not even get them outside of the stadium

Parking SUXS, don't even try to do it.

Tailgating is mostly done at the bars alongside the road to

stadium, not in the parking lots if you can even get in.

You probably have to try to park on the street and you won't get close to the stadium

Driving there

Jun 21, 2022, 3:12 PM

I do it every time as it is not too far for me and I get a local hotel not near the campus.

Get there early for parking and you will have to park on the streets

It is a great drive during the fall if the trees are in fall bloom

Cooperstown is not that far away if you have any interest in that and baseball.

Boston has plenty of historic spots if you are into that

Always something to do

Tickets

Jun 21, 2022, 3:13 PM

I get them from BC site and unfortunately most of the time they are not in the Clemson section which suxs

Re: Tickets

Jun 21, 2022, 7:57 PM

The one time I went, the BC fans were gone by halftime and all the Clemson fans were stuck in the upper corner of the upper deck.
Next time, I would be tempted to buy cheap tickets outside the stadium the day of the game.

I don't know your flexibility or time you can stay away from home, but the following week is the perfect time to travel up to New Hampshire and Maine to tour around and see some of the most brilliant leaf colors in the country.

If you are a Marriott guy, stay on the wharf. It is an easy walk to the North End Italian district and restaurant choices are endless.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Back Bay is my favorite area to stay in

Jun 21, 2022, 8:19 PM

but there are certainly other good areas too. I recommend staying in Boston rather than Chestnut Hill. You’ll get more of a flavor for the city.

Getting to Chestnut Hill is easy on the T. That should be your way of getting around while there.

Definitely make time for the Freedom Trail. Loads of historic sites along the way.

Visiting Harvard in Cambridge is fun, as is checking out Fenway Park.

Do a Duck Tour if you can. Yes, it’s touristy but you get to see a lot of the city on bus and on water. It’s one of those things to do when you visit Boston.

I highly recommend eating some good food in the North End. There is some very good Italian food there.

You’re going to have so much fun!

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger

You have time for side trips I highly recommend a day in Newport, Rhode Island. You can see how the “other half” lived! A truly amazing little village on the coast.
