I appreciate the prayers for my father....

Mar 2, 2017, 1:58 PM

After his massive stroke, it is wait and see. Medical science gives him little hope, but I serve a big God and that 94 year old man is the strongest man I have ever known. Regardless, he is prepared whatever God decides.

The older tnetters know who my dad is, and while some of you may not like my bragging, I would like to brag for some of the newer posters.

My dad, class of '49 is in the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame having earned 11 varsity letters in football, baseball, and basketball. He is a member of the All-centennial football team. Clemson has had two athletes win conference athlete of the year - Deshaun Watson and Frank Gillespie, my dad.

For those of you praying people, I just wanted to let you know who you were praying for. Thanks much!

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Many prayers and well wishes for your father and your family. Your dad and my dad were there at the same time, although my father graduated in 50 and could not boast the same resume. With God, All things are possible.

That is not bragging. That shows how proud a son is of his father. I'm glad you mentioned that. What an athlete. God is in control.

Thanks for sharing information on who your Dad is. I have known of his reputation as a Christian man and as an athlete for many years. My pastor in the i950s (a Furman graduate) spoke of him often. Your dad and your family are in my prayers.

My late Father was in the class of 1944. The 1940s graduates including your Dad made Clemson a unique place. May you and yours be blessed by whatever takes place. The Lord has a plan and while we may not know all just remember he is in charge.

Here's the deal

Mar 3, 2017, 12:20 PM

God bless you and your father, but this is for the general good: even if your father didn't accomplish all those things, he's still your father, and that's what matters. At the end of the day, it's not what we "do" but who we "are". I'm sure your father was all that and more, so PG for his life.

Much prayer for all of you as you continue this journey--wherever it takes you. I did it four months ago with Mom, and eight years ago with Dad, Class of 1941. It is wonderful that all of your hearts are in one accord with the Lord. Blessings and comfort to all.
