That was a good hard fouls by Collins

Feb 10, 2022, 10:17 PM

And I have no problem with it. And if Brownell had ANY stones at all or cared even a little bit for his players he would have punched coach K in the face after he crossed mid-court. No wonder our starters transfer out regularly. Man up for your program, Brad. Dabo would have buried that rat face crybaby, coming onto our turf going after us like that.

Didn’t watch the game, but watched the replay and that was pathetic.

It was a cheap and flagrant foul and he hurt the team

he makes a good point though, it does little good for coach Krychefzsq7ski to cross mid-court over this.

Indeed. We can disagree about the foul. But no true Clemson man thinks it was okay for rat race to sashay onto our side of the floor like that without losing some chiclets or needing a steak for his eye.

So if the same thing happened at Duke and they fouled one of our guys like that you would expect our coach to stay on the bench???

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: That was a good hard fouls by Collins

Feb 11, 2022, 10:27 AM

I’d expect our players to handle it. And our coach to go check on the injured player after making sure they knew that’s what he was doing. But we both know Brad wouldn’t do chit about it, cept maybe raise his arms up in mock frustration.

So basically do what coach K and the Duke players did.

Re: That was a good hard fouls by Collins

Feb 11, 2022, 12:07 PM

Coach K walked alllll the way over to our bench, well past half court. And his band of thug assistants were standing at half court taunting our coaches and players. No, that’s not what I’m suggesting. If our team has a problem with a foul, go after the player who committed the foul right then and there. The players should settle it. The opposing coach should not be crossing half court unless he’s walking over to check on his player, or he’s ready to throw hands. Period. And like I’ve said, Rick Barnes would have NEVER allowed that to stand. Not in a million years.

The low iq folks are out in full force today! What should brownell have done? Are you suggesting he should have fought coach k on the court like the well heck burner account suggested?

And that is why we lost? Because brownell allowed him to walk on our side of the court?

Barnes would have gotten right up in his face and forced him to walk back in shame. Then made sure the narrative was about how out of line K was. Probably would have gotten him fined.

You consistently defend Brad and say he’s done a great job here, yet it’s others who don’t understand basketball or coaching? Got it. You may be the only genius who can understand that Brad is an amazing coach despite what our eyes tell us, but you definitely don’t understand psychology. If Dave Doeren came over to our sideline because we had a late hit on his player, you can bet Dabo wouldn’t stand there looking silly and then spend the entire post game conference apologizing for how awful our guy was.

Dude, I think brownell should be fired after this year unless he pulls a miracle and wins the ACC tournament. This year was a total flop. He needed to make the tourney or at least been a bubble team.

Are you saying that I'm a brownell homer because I don't think we would have won the game even if brownell fought coach k at mid court? Are you f'ing serious?

Re: That’s exactly when the game was lost. When Brad

We all know you’re a Brownell homer because of how hard you’ve defended him again and again. You keep acting like there’s nothing Brownell could have ever done to improve our program or help us win.

Yes, I’m saying that Brownell should have defended Collins both publicly after the game and on the court, and defended our end of the court. We would have lost anyway because Brownell has taken our program into the cellar. And even if it were close, Brownell would have done something dumb to lose, because he is apathetic about our program and puts in zero effort. As seen in how he let the other coach sashay up to our bench and do whatever he wanted. Unless you can tell me Dabo would let another coach walk all the way over to our sidelines to confront our player after a penalty, Brownell was wrong for that.

I haven't changed my expectations on brownell. I respect him as a man and a basketball coach. It looks like he hasn't recruited well enough to get it done. He needs to go.

Blaming literally everything on him is immature and delusional. That's what I've always argued against. You and others do some pretty intense mental gymnastics to blame everything on brownell. It's quite sad.

Dude. It’s over. Your many year, fully throated defense of a below average coach has wasted more than decade, more than $20 million in coaching salary, and will end with one of the worst seasons in Clemson basketball history (Larry’s 2 win ACC season would be arguably worse except he played a dozen ranked teams that year) and leave an empty pantry and a full rebuild for the next guy. Good job!

Men need to start behaving like men again if our species is to survive. What kind of role models are we for this next generation if we do not signal that it is OK to use violence to win arguments. All of this self-loathing and victimhood can be solved very quickly by simply walking up to the closest stranger and punching them in the neck.

Brad said in post game radio that Collins didn't mean to do it, and just gained too much steam to stop, but they felt the right thing to do was for both David and himself to go to Coach K and apologize.

Re: That was a good hard fouls by Collins

Of course he did. At that point why not just save everyone the time and forfeit? Now every time Dook plays us they’re going to be waiting for Brad to bend over and take it from them. If you’re not going to be good, at least be tough. Weak and terrible is no way to go through a season.

That was Meeks. He was talking to the Clemson bench about beating them. Not a player. Claimed the Clemson bench and assistants were heckling him the whole.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Imagine how Barnes would have reacted?

Feb 10, 2022, 10:47 PM

Two different situations. Barnes went after Dean Smith when Smith went after Iker Iturbe for a hard foul.

I think the Meeks situation happened when Brownell was the head coach.

Different game. Iturbe fouled Stackhouse and Smith came on the court and point at Iturbe and was yelling at him. Barnes wasn’t having and charged out to confront Smith. Both coaches were later fined.

Re: Imagine how Barnes would have reacted?

Feb 10, 2022, 10:51 PM

Bingo. Smith stepped out of his box to come after our player and Barnes was not having any of it. Barnes NEVER backed down from top name coaches and understood what it means to defend your court and players, right or wrong.

You are full of it! That was a cheap and dirty play. I'm a diehard Tiger. I'm certainly not a Coach K fan, but if I saw one of my players get hit like that, I would be upset as well. That young man could have been seriously injured. There is a big difference between a hard foul and a dirty foul.

Re: That was a good hard fouls by Collins

If he was worried about his player it might have been acceptable for him to run out to check on him. But he ran out onto the court to grandstand.

Re: That was a good hard fouls by Collins

Feb 10, 2022, 10:54 PM

That’s exactly right. He wasn’t checking on his player, he was sliding his sack across Brad’s face, making sure everyone knows he owns our gym and he can do whatever he wants here. And how did Brad respond? “Yes master, so sorry. Will never happen again. Please go ahead and have an easy dunk whenever you want.” Forget that.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Feb 10, 2022, 10:57 PM

...benefit of doubt. But that was about as intentional as it gets. No excuse for that. I'm sure Collins regrets it and is sorry...but no excuse.

Re: That was a good hard fouls by Collins

Feb 11, 2022, 8:45 AM

So if one of the Duke players had fouled one of our guys that way you would not have wanted BB to do at least what coach K did?

And Dabo has proven time and time again if one of his players does something like that they will face consequences. It was a dumb play by a normally smart player that cost the team. Remember Dabo and the punter at the ACC championship game vs. NC, or him making Booth ride the band bus home instead of flying back with the team after throwing a punch? If BB should have been more forceful with anyone it should have been Collins not coach K.

I hate dook probably more than anyone on this board. But that foul was awful. There’s no way to spin it. It looks even worse when you slow it down and watch. Moore could have been seriously hurt.
I also despise Rat K but I think it was classy to accept the apology from Collins.
