That Shovel Dug Our Grave

That shovel pass gone bad is a metaphor for this season. Buried us. This year is one of those that makes our championships so special. We remember years like this were not too long ago with little ole Clemson. But I truly believe what Dabo said. This will make us stronger in the long run. Recruits will want to help get us back on track. If we turn things around next year it will be one of the greatest football stories ever.

Yep. And the dropped pass by Shipley didn’t help.

The drop by Shipley was certainly not favorable, but you can't talk about that one without at least mentioning all the other dropped passes.

The shovel pass came later in the game way after Shipley dropped the pass. When the shovel was returned it just felt like the end. By the way Shipley had run the ball the play before and had taken a big hit. Not making excuses, but I was surprised they threw to him so quick after the big hit. I'm not slamming anyone, but the pass sucked It's just one of those years. Go Tigers!

Forget the shovel pass, it happened. But if we are to get stronger next year, Dabo is going to have to make some serious off season decisions or next year will be a continuation of this one.

The problem I had was the QB didn't bother looking before pitching the ball.

While the defender is permitted to penetrate and over-pursue, you have to be smart enough not to pitch the friggin' ball right to him.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.


They had been getting penetration all day, it was a bad call

and obviously the QB should have looked first but what do we know? The no-look is probably a "wrinkle" our coaches threw in to really trick the defenders. Worked about as well as a rob spence screen pass.

I remember the lean years. Kind of expected it then. We had no talent. It's a bitter pill when the talent is here.
