Just got back from the Soccer game in the artic.

Nov 13, 2019, 8:47 PM

Cold night, but it didn't slow down our team or keep the fans away. This team really impresses me this year. Even without our top scorer we really were aggressive and tough. Not a bunch of actresses like a lot of teams. We fight through contact and keep playing, always attacking the ball or moving the ball.

Hope we can get everybody healthy and make another run in the tourney. This just might be the year to add another big trophy to our soccer case.

Way to support in the cold. Sounds like a W. Score please.

Thanks. The little bit I saw on TV we almost scored three times in 5 minutes. That ball that hit the post was a rocket. Scoreless when I had to take the kiddies out.

That rocket was off Mayaka's foot.

Just got named ACC freshman of the year.

Enjoy his play this year as he probably gone next year.

Too good not to move up to a higher level, MLS or some European club.

Maybe Noonan came talk him into staying another year, but doubtful.

Hopefully. Next year he'd be something else with a year under his belt.

Mayaka is certainly the best player on the team

Every single time he touches it, he knows where he’s going with it and plays perfect balls 95% of the time. Has great control.

Has command of his position and the field and knows where to be. It’s definitely a pro quality and something that a pro team would very much value.

Basically he is the heart that makes the whole organism flow.

Hope the heart has a heart for Clemson and sticks around awhile.

He might

I see that he was in the Orlando City youth academy and yet still came to Clemson rather than try and go play in USL or something immediately. He probably enjoys college soccer.

also I would imagine he will get some chances to

play for the Kenyan national team in WC qualifiers and such coming up as Kenya usually does not have a very strong team. ( I see Kenya has players from obscure African leagues and fourth divison english league on their roster)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, we had a lot of opportunities and several

"close ones." Just couldn't seem to get the right bounces sometimes. But it was good to see us really pushing the ball and making opportunities.

Yeah, sorry. Guess that's a little important. Thanks, Judge, for filling in.

Nov 13, 2019, 8:53 PM

Until the final 20 mins or so and I really started to feel it in the legs and feet.

I think Pitt actually controlled the action in the 2nd half which is a good test for us and a good sign that we held on. Movíng forward we will face some good teams in the NCAA tournament, it won’t always be one way traffic for us so it was good to see us be able to stick it out and still win

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, we definitely played a little more defensive in

Nov 13, 2019, 8:55 PM

the second half. Got a little worried a couple of times but this team really plays fundamentally sound.

Arctic, not artic. Please tell me you’re not a Clemson grad.

I know one of the kids coming in - Ben Erkens, from Greenville. Kid played with my son for years and I coached him occasionally - he was part of our Academy pool, though never on one of my rosters - and the kid is absolutely legit. He's a lefty, he's lightning fast and one of the best natural athletes I've ever seen...probably a left back or left wing at the next level but I always thought he had MLS-type upside, the kid is just that elite an athlete.

Noonan's recruiting well, and he seems to have an eye for seeing the special ones.

Good news.
