Why go for 2 right then? Go to 3rd OT and then both teams are having to go for 2

Yep. Almost guaranteed point to go to 3rd OT. You get the ball first, score and THEN try a 2pt play then your defense can stop UT. Defense would have had plenty of time to rest.

They was going to have to go for 2 in the next OT. He was one upping UT, before they had a chance to match. He obviously did not think his D would stop UT from scoring another TD and the 2 point conversion, as well. GT had not stopped UT from getting 3 yards on a play in OT, with the exception of the first and goal play, which UT scored their first OT touchdown on.

I would have went for two as well, but only one play I would have used, Benson on the dive. Kid had not been stopped all night.

the game. GTs offense is built around picking up a few yards at a time. They face 3rd and shorts all the time so they should be well equipped to pick up a 2 point conversion.
It didn't work out for them but I think the decision was fine.

While I would not have gone for two in that situation, that loss was the result of two turnovers (both of which Tennessee converted into scores) and two missed FG's by Georgia Tech.

In the next OT, it would have been GT's possession first and they would have been required to go for 2. If they make it, UT still has a chance to tie. If they miss, UT has a chance to win.
Bo going for it on that drive, they can win or lose. Period. Had to go for 2 either there or the very next possession, and doing on that possession doesn't give UT another chance.
It was absolutely the right call.

But the wrong one. Too much risk when you run the ball. They were running well, but every so often the D stops the option. Should have extended the game with a PAT.
