Nice, mine is tomorrow. I thought it was less than 5% but

Mar 10, 2022, 8:00 AM

it apparently is right at 5%.

$475,000 * 0.05 = $23,750 nice

*Actually, my real bonus hit this morning and it is 4.8%, not 5 like you.

fresh pow pow though. Baked in Telluride is a really good bakery though, Czech it out when you go back out there.

Oh yeah, that place has been a staple from year 1

Mar 10, 2022, 8:29 AM

It'll dissolve $20 from your wallet for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee, but when in Rome.....

Apparently they have totally jacked the prices this season (even by Telluride standards). Every restaurant has like a 20% "Employee health surcharge". Wife, son, and my inlaws totaled $250 at the brewpub on basic bar food, 3 beers, and an app. Insane.

Yesterday we learned that not only is no one in our division getting a raise but they are cutting our space by 35% which means shared offices which means masks back on all the time.

Re: 5% salary bonus on a Thurs morning got me like

Mar 10, 2022, 8:59 AM

I know nothing about the corporate world, so y’all help me out here- other jobs just get raises and bonuses like just because? Or is it tied to some sort of production metric?

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

At old corporate world it was like, ok, your group gets $60K

Mar 10, 2022, 9:04 AM

this year, only 80% are eligible for a raise. Disperse as you like.

At new corporate world, I got the biggest raise I ever gots out of cycle and we get annual bonuses, so far 2/2.

Maybe the promotion was b/c I werked real good and the bonus was a just because.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

For me, a non-sales position, it is tied to metrics that our

team in the Southeast meets. Higher level "senior" people get a bonus based on how the company did the previous year. Raises are also based off that but try to at least keep up with inflation plus a little extra.

Sales is a different animal, I think they get bonuses based off personal sales metrics, some of which can be very hefty bonuses.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

In the government world you get 2% per year

but I cannot sit around and do nothing for an entire week in the private sector and everyone be fine with that. When I worked in the gov't, I would drive around some afternoons just to get out of the office. Never had to bill time, so it didn't matter what I did as long as I answered the phone when someone needed me and I made it to most meetings.

What I learned yesterday is ours is tied to

Mar 10, 2022, 9:11 AM [ in reply to Re: 5% salary bonus on a Thurs morning got me like ]

our key performances indicators. The number starts at X and depending on overall company performance the higherups make a decision to give out some % of X. For 2021 they decided to do 2*X since they year was so good. What I am unsure of is, how much further up the ladder does one have to go to get into serious, put in a pool type bonuses.

Everywhere I work for has done some degree of a merit based increase every year, save 2010 when the bank was like "Hell No, only people who got promoted get a raise." I was doing payroll then and they held true to this, except for some of the promotions, in the accounting department no less, were rather suspicious.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Every company is different....

Mar 10, 2022, 10:10 AM [ in reply to Re: 5% salary bonus on a Thurs morning got me like ]

I currently have everyone incentivized on operating profit (EBITA).

We set-aside 30% of EBITA as profit-sharing. In the past we've done profit-sharing bonus on an annual basis, but we moved it quarterly last year in an effort to provide more immediate feedback/incentive. We are also growing so much and the requirement was that one had to be employed for the entire bonus period. So we had people start in Jan/Feb that were high performers, but wouldn't be eligible for a yearly bonus.

Some companies have part of bonus be based on group performance, then portion based on individual metrics.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bonus?

Re: 5% salary bonus on a Thurs morning got me like

My oldest son got an 17% raise yesterday. He emailed the HR guy and told him about another job offer which paid that much more than he was making. Five minutes later his boss emailed him to meet at his office with him and the regional manager.

I laughed and interrelated my belief that everyone in his company were incompetent maroons.

Sorry, that happened Monday. Old man dumb.
