IPTAY Frustrations…

Jul 22, 2022, 10:16 AM

I’m sorry, but isn’t it kind of ridiculous IPTAY still hasn’t finalized parking for this season by this point? Seems to me they are still trying to “please” big donors, which in turn impacts your average Clemson fan who has been cheering and going to the games even through the tough years.

IIRC, we don’t normally get that info before last week of July or first week of August…

Then you shouldn’t advertise that you would be done by the week of the 11th. Plus, commitments were due in April.

Re: IPTAY Frustrations…

Jul 22, 2022, 10:28 AM

Why are you worried? It’s still 7 weeks away. The VAST majority of people will have the exact same spot as last year…

There’s thousands of change requests every year, so it’s not a simple process. Takes time.

Re: IPTAY Frustrations…

Jul 22, 2022, 10:37 AM

Some folks plan things further in advance than 7 weeks.
However, main point would be to not advertise new dates if you want to keep the old ones.

Re: IPTAY Frustrations…

Jul 22, 2022, 10:43 AM

Ok, I guess.

Where my spot is located has nothing to do with my gameday plans, so I don’t get the anxiety. As long as I get to park, in Clemson, everything else is the same…

The only real person I know that worries about this, only cares because he sells his parking pass every year. If he gets moved he may not profit as much…dbag.

Re: IPTAY Frustrations…

Jul 22, 2022, 10:51 AM

Or maybe because you have to buy an extra pass because you were priced out by big donors and folks don’t know where they are so aren’t selling them. Maybe be a little more thoughtful in your answers before slinging names.

Re: IPTAY Frustrations…

Jul 22, 2022, 11:01 AM

Seems you are projecting. I didn’t say anything about you…

You don’t seem to like big donors though, so maybe I should take offense to that?

Some people sell their parking passes. Not knowing what lot you’re in would impact being able to list it on StubHub. It must be stressful.

Parking has been a known issue for years. Shouldn’t be surprised by it when dealing with it on a yearly basis. Should be ready to make changes when we get to April commitment date.

There’s a lot of construction going on almost everywhere on campus; maybe they’re waiting until they’re sure some spots are gonna be clear in time for the first game.

Only in America, baby. Instant gratification, no matter that displacement, loss of spaces, ongoing construction, et al, make the assignment of permits to recipients who constantly grouse about their assignments very difficult. Here's the truth: You need your permit the week prior to the first home game. Earlier than that is a blessing. But, go ahead, call the IPTAY and ticket offices and offer your complaints and suggestions. I'm sure they have nothing else to do right now.

Re: IPTAY Frustrations…

Jul 22, 2022, 11:02 AM

I’m with you on this honestly. I love Clemson and IPTAY but really don’t like the system. My tickets have been in the West End zone covered for at least 10 years. They were considered “premium” seats. As you may know, all of these were displaced due to the renovation. So, when it came time for this year’s application, I was told by IPTAY to increase my giving for this year and make my request and given the displacement situation, I would get some priority for seats that come available. I increased my donation to Fike level but still got, in my opinion, not very good seats. Understand, I wasn’t looking for lower bowl 50 yard line seats. I figured that wasn’t happening but I really thought they would be better than section UI.
This process is the only thing that I know of where you are told pay us as much as possible but you have no idea what you are buying.

IPtay keeps telling me after 20 years od donating, my cumulative points, and and champion level ($900) there are not 2 available any where in Death Valley that are better than the 1 $150 seats i have in Top Deck North Row Q.

I saw like 20 new people in rows in front of my seats last year.

every year they send a survey and ask for improvements i say.. POST your seat allocation and corresponding IPTAY points. I would love to expose these good ole boys.

Re: posted my frustrations yesterday

Jul 22, 2022, 1:55 PM

I've asked for seat improvements every year since 2011 and have never moved. I've been overpaying on the seat value ever since they instituted the SEP, but never once has a spot come up in a better location.

Demand is fierce--even COVID didn't slow it down. I called in 2021 and inquired how hard it would be to get a 5th season ticket added to my account, figuring a lot of seats had been vacated by the pandemic, and the person literally laughed in my ear.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

what is your donation level and current equity seats

Jul 22, 2022, 2:27 PM

i don't ask for 50 yard line lowed deck south seats.

I just ask to move a few rows down. I bought into their BS until last year where almost every 1 in front of me was new

Re: what is your donation level and current equity seats

Maybe the “new” people in front of you bought their tickets from the “old” people? Maybe they were bumped from the lower deck (because of the evil big donors that I keep hearing about) but still higher on the list than you are?

Just saying there could be a reasonable explanation…or it could be a conspiracy. Who knows?

Aug 17, 2022, 8:47 AM [ in reply to what is your donation level and current equity seats ]

GeeVille--Sorry this is 3 weeks late, but I'm in Section S (lower deck North, end zone). I give at the Tiger ($1700) level.

I figured 2021 would be the perfect opportunity to improve my seats as I thought there'd be higher-than-average availability due to people opting out in 2020. I was wrong. I was told demand was higher than ever, and I'm assuming people who are at a higher donor level leapfrogged me for any seats that came open (which is fine; not complaining, just remarking).

Of course with this week's announcement of SEP changes/increases, I'm relieved I didn't get better seats because I just barely missed being moved from a Tangerine section (was $350/seat, now $450) to a Grey section (was $600, now $700). That "improvement" would have cost me $1000/year. As it stands, though, my total cost increase will only go up $100/year and for the first time since SEP was introduced, I'll be paying IPTAY the actual value of my seats/tickets instead of overpaying.

Yeah, I think the first line of people you speak to when calling in are students. You definitely have to get past them to a couple levels up to be taken seriously. I don’t think they really care though because you have already paid in full for the current year and “nothing can be changed for this year”. The can is then kicked down the road and nothing ever changes.

Well, well. This is nice. I must be one of the good ole boys.

I have had the same 2 tickets for about 30 years since they flipped me from Section S to Section M way back when. I have had my parking space moved many times, but remain ok with where I have been assigned. When I was a senior student I lived on East Campus. I have always been assigned parking that was closer to the stadium than my last dorm. I am a real senior now and the walk to the stadium is probably good for me.

There have been years where we didn't get parking assignments until the week before the season started. Parking is one of the most difficult and volatile things to nail down. Patience, grasshopper.

Have not fretted at all the last 3 years about tkts. Gave up my 6 lowers and parking when covid hit have not missed worrying since. Been to games I want to go to the last 2 years saved over 20 thousand dollars. Nice not having to worry and put money in bank! Was a member of Iptay for 35 years and not had one call saying they missed my donation!

As a 43-year IPTAY member, I'd like to give you a historical perspective. Parking assignments have generally not been communicated until the first week in August. I'm sorry for your frustration.

I'd rather the parking assignment be sooner too but let's all agree as Clemson supporters to swim in the same direction. There are lots of things in life that I don't like but I choose to focus on the positive ones.

I miss the old days when I could park up behind marriage housing, visit downtown, then walk to the ESSO club and hook up with all my buddies. Not having season tickets because I owned a restaurant and could not get away sometimes, I would then walk toward the stadium and find. Some nice person with a couple of tickets and sell me them at actual real price. It’s to complicated to go now! I wouldn’t know where to start.
