Great Story on Streeter

Jan 9, 2022, 10:39 AM

I remember this play.... Streeter had his collarbone broke in 1999 when we beat UNC. He stayed in the game with a broken collar bone and the next play scrambled for 13 yards. He came back two weeks later vs Wake. We had a good one behind him in Woody, but that 1999 team was Streeters. We finished 6-6 and lost to Miss St in the Peach Bowl, but three of our losses that year were vs the undefeated and eventual national champs FSU 17-14 (we gave them their toughest game all year with a field goal blocked as time expired in the Dillards game where Peter Warrich and Levernous Coles came back from suspension early), V Tech with M. Vick and Marshall (Chad Pennington also on a missed field goal with time expiring). All three of those teams finished undefeated regular season and FSU crushed V Tech in the natty.

I think he will do a great job as coordinator and glad his team mate from 1999, Nick Eason is on staff too. 1999 Streeter, Eason and Jeff Scott were all of the team. Joey Batson and Larry Greenlee were also on the staff then too.

Streeter is tough. His ability to get back up always reminded me of John Cameron Swayze and Timex commercials. "“It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.”

The Marshal team had 4 seniors drafted and 11 other players that would eventually play at the next level. Some never made it off the practice squad, and some stuck for several years. They finished the season ranked #10.

Yeah I was at the Marshall game. That was a really good team and game.
