Grantland's take on Beasley (link)

Apr 28, 2015, 10:34 AM

I don't agree with his assessment, but it's interesting.

That is a terrible assessment of Beasley. He gives nothing

Apr 28, 2015, 10:49 AM

but opinion on why Vic's not good while not paying little or no attention to numbers (both production and combine) that would suggest otherwise. Vic can be a great pro - but will need to be in the right scheme. He will not be an every down hand in the dirt 4-3 DE. Bruce Irvin is comparable to Vic in game....needs to be used in a similar manner.

Shane Ray was inconsistent, Beasley was not. Gregory was also inconsistent and in trouble, Beasley was not. Fowler is a great DE - who has good production and frame - will be great too I think if he's not lazy. Vic is not lazy.

I see the flaws in Vic's game and I get it. His lower body is a bit too small... and he needs to turn his speed into more power...but I don't think he HAD to in college. I think he CAN - as evidenced by his Combine Bench numbers...

Anyway....any team will be lucky to add Vic - hopefully in the top 10, where he belongs.

The negative clip he shows of Beasley

Apr 28, 2015, 11:29 AM

Takes on a double team and if you notice the left tackle leg catches Vic while the other guy pushes him over. You can topple the biggest and strongest of men by doing this. "Experts" continue to point to Clemson playing in the ACC, and then they formulate their opinion off of that, or almost hold it against him that he put up some of the most amazing numbers at the Combine.

Anything associated with ESPN has negative Vic spin on it

Apr 28, 2015, 12:28 PM

All these guys take the lead from McShay and Kiper. The other networks and sports outlets at least have a solid mixture of guys that like him and guys that may not as much. Haven't seen anyone on ESPN give him anymore than back handed compliments. McShay makes his "pile watcher" comment every time Beasley's name comes up. If your planning to watch the draft coverage on ESPN, be prepared to hear them say more crap about him basically being weak and soft.

i don't think Vic is a prototypical nfl de

Apr 28, 2015, 12:30 PM

So in that regard, it is not a stretch to be so-so on him. He's a hybrid DE/OLB in my view but believe he will be a great nfl player if the DC knows how to use him. Keep in mind he really played DE for two years so he's behind in terms of learning new, different moves. He will get bigger and stronger in the next few years.
I disagree about his speed and first step. He is exceptionally fast and this will help him in covering TE's and running down RBs at the next level.
He's an elite athlete that will be an impact player in the right scheme.

McSay can't seem to get it out of his head that victory is 220. He got a report that victory played at 220 this year and that has formed his opinion.

CBS Sports basically called Vic the safest pick in the draft

Apr 28, 2015, 12:43 PM

in this article posted today

Stephone Anthony also mentioned further down in the article

Apr 28, 2015, 12:47 PM

Also note who they chose to use as comparisons for Amari Cooper..

I like CBS Sports assessment of Stephone Anthony too

Apr 28, 2015, 12:54 PM [ in reply to CBS Sports basically called Vic the safest pick in the draft ]

He will be a heckuva steal in the second round. As a Vikings fan, I hope he's still around and we can nab him then.

Why do these bozos think Beasley should be a 290 pound DE

Apr 28, 2015, 12:47 PM

that plays against a Green Bay Packer type offense from the 1960's. Do they not know that the NFL offenses have changed?

It's quite a frightening thought to know that there are

Apr 28, 2015, 12:56 PM

people on the internet who have an opinion different from mine. Not sure how I should handle this.
