The Beekeeper: Brent Venables has had success shutting down Tech's option

Just call Brent Venables The Beekeeper. Clemson’s defensive coordinator is one of the few coaches in the country that has figured out a way to bottle up Paul Johnson and Georgia Tech’s option offense. He keeps the bees in a box if you will.

I expect GT to have some new wrinkles and adjustments because Paul J is good at that. But every year BV has been better and better at getting the guys ready for this.I suspect they will be ready and play a solid game to stop this. I just want us to cover them deep the few times they throw

Well I have seen this posted a lot that BV has the key to PJs option.
I hope so and feel that our D line is too good just to keep running on.
But Paul is not a bad coach and probably knows he will have to add some wrinkles.
I say he tries to move faster than normal which will lead to some fumbles.

I agree, all this talk about Venables having their number makes me a little nervous. Especially with the quarterback concerns we have. All I know is something is going to have to give. GT is averaging 370+ yds a game rushing and we are only giving up about 108 yds a game rushing. The biggest positive I think we have going for us is that we have only given up 2 rushing TD's all season! And one of them was to VT where they got that good punt return to the 2 yard line and just ran it in on the next play. Hopefully our offense will have success in the 1st half to build a comfortable lead for any miscues in the 2nd half when the defense starts to wear down from boredom.

BV, alias Beekeeper, makes the triple option really hard cause of our front 4. It takes away 1-2 of the run options

Yes sir me too. Which makes me nervous because of the extra opportunities that could give the GT offense.
