Softball Lineup Question

Anybody understand why Logoleo is batting 6th and Russ 7th - both behind Viera 5th and with Pereira at leadoff?

I haven't looked to see if Pereira has been hotter hitter than Russ recently, but for the season Russ is higher in both AVG and OBP than Pereira.

Then there's Logoleo at 6th... she is certainly one of our four best hitters overall (with Clark, Cagle, and Guimbarda). She has a slugging % trailing only Clark. Her OBP is a little lower, but the 5 spot would make a lot of sense to me especially when Viera has an even lower OBP (although she does have a higher AVG).

I can't argue with the results... especially today. I'm just curious if any softball/baseball coaches know of the reasoning behind shaping a lineup like the one today. It may be that coaches build their lineups different now from the last time I coached.

It's been working and softball coaches (like baseball coaches) don't want to eff with something that's working.

Comfortable in their spots, both are performing. Logoleo is swinging a hot bat and could hit 4, 5, or 6. Rittman sticking to what is working as far as order. I’ve never been a fan of a constant changing lineup. Anyway just my guess.

It’s all chemistry. Russ did start out the season as lead off but her BA struggled. She’s picked it up since moving down the lineup. Logoleo in the last month has taken off. She’s as good a hitter in the country right now. I think it’s all “stick to what’s working”.

Makes sense to me. I had forgotten that Russ started the season higher in the order.

Keeping things where they work well certainly makes sense to me.
