I've never heard someone so self serving, so arrogant, so demeaning to so many people (including Ramona). He's afforded a position in entertainment to provide knowledgeable insight as far as sports goes, but all too often goes beyond the scope of his position (in a negative way). I swear the dude missed his calling as a lawyer. I've never heard someone so well versed in lawyer speak that can cover both sides of his ### simultaneously...in other words, he's never wrong. I have to chuckle when I hear road rage guarantee nowadays.
Walt, I know you probably won't see this, but grow up and do your job. As of right now, you're getting about as bad as James Thurn and you can see how that turned out. I'm honestly kinda ashamed to have this guy on CLEMSON's flagship station. The way he demeans Ramona and literally calls her stupid is completely childish and uncalled for. Several days ago, I literally started feeling embarrassed for the way he was talking down to her. You could almost hear her voicing cracking as she was getting upset. Half the time, I'm not sure if I'm listening to a sports station or Murray. Walt is radio's version of an internet tough guy. It must take a lot of courage to sit behind a desk, speak into a microphone and spew out verbal diarrhea like a coot. And no, I wouldn't need to hide behind a desk to say that to you 
The best slot on WCCP has to be Qualk and Dutch. Both guys offer valid opinions, are easily relatable to fans, do not have a superiority complex, and handle themselves pretty well as far as disagreements between themselves. I also like the fact that they don't hesitate to take a jab at coots. They are the most entertaining duo by far on 105.5.
Just thought I'd say this...I'm getting to the point where I don't listen to 105.5 anymore and that's sad considering this is Clemson's flagship station.

If that's his goal then mission accomplished. I tune in to hear news about Clemson athletics...not some guy berating an old lady. It'd be different if he only did it once...but it's like a weekly ritual with that dude. It's gotten old quick...

it amazes me how many[or few] people i see complain about the guy, but apparently listen 'religiously'. dafuq's up with that?
don't listen, the problem will fix itself.
as for lawyers, 50% of lawyers can loose on any given day... is it parody, parity or parroty...
whichever.

Antenna has been broken for years so I don't listen to Walt much. Although I have before and am familiar. I do think it is hilarious that people constantly complain about this guy but obviously can't stop listening.
I say, pay the man more money cause he is doing his job. Making you fools listen...

is she suppose to be? That'd be like a quantum physicist asking you questions about the Higgs particle, then proceeding to laugh and call you stupid when you couldn't produce an answer.
Fixing it would be replacing him with a competent host that doesn't get off on displaying his arrogance by insulting a vastly unknowledgeable person. I have cut back on Walt and probably will all together. I did the same thing with Thurn and luckily he got the boot. It'd be nice to have a Clemson man fill that prime time slot.

Because I've been listening to WCCP in the morning and at lunch, Walt is usually on my radio as I'm leaving work. I rarely make it more than 5 minutes before I switch away for Walt. Most days I give him a chance, but not a second chance. I've grown tired of him. I truly believe his whole show is based on folks listening to him because they love to hate him. Well, I'm over it. If WCCP wants me to hate someone, I'm thinking more of the program director.

he is like your buddy that trash talks you when you play him in a sport, or when your team is down. It is just a radio personality, he is trying to get listeners. When I first started listening to him I got pulled into thinking he was being serious. He is a pretty genuine guy off of the air and gives to charities and cares. Do we really need Homers every hour around the clock?

have him on earlier and someone more Clemson oriented for the prime time slot. Like many others, I don't always have the chance to listen to the other guys...mainly Walt because of his slot when most people (including me) get off work.

The way he talks down to his producer is out of line. I hope nobody talks to his wife/mother/sister/daughter like that at their work. Everyone else talks about how they couldn't do it without their producer.

but I'm definitely not in the boat with you. You lost validity on the Ramona thing. Heard her laugh and play along with Walt any - as in about every line? She offsets him in a comedic way, and she knows she does, but we don't think she knows she does. It's all part of the gig. She loves it, and really - it's what makes the gig. You've got a smart guy and a dumb sidekick and they play off of each other. He'll have her make her tourney picks - "Weber State over say, Kansas, b/c I like the name Weber" etc, etc.
I'm not sure why you're taking it all so seriously. Comedy has worked like this for years. There's always a kind of lead, serious person, and a sidekick. Even the tonight show has used it for decades. The two know each other and everybody just listens in.

At that time, it was abundantly clear that Walt loved to hear himself talk and had a very high opinion of himself. He also had a real problem admitting when he was wrong about something which was quite often. It certainly doesn't sound like much has changed.

It is not about sports. generate response through email, phone calls, letters, the internet. . Anything that you can put in front of a potential gas station chain to say, "look, people are listening, you should advertise here. " do anything to generate a buzz.
They are all like that so take them as they are.

I've only listened to WCCP a few times--usually on "big" days for Clemson like signing day or after a big bowl win--and I think Walt was on a couple of times. Honestly, I don't really like much of the programming at all on the station, but I especially disliked him (if he's the guy I'm thinking of).
Unfortunately, radio personalities often get it in their heads that they're far more important than they actually are. From what I heard, Walt seemed to fall into that category. On top of that, the guys who are less talented (like him) usually can't do enough to sustain an audience via an interesting point of view, so they fall into the radio version of internet trolling...keeping listeners by getting them angry. They stick around for the sole purpose of hearing what frustrating thing he'll say next.

I think Walt's show is great. Because of his show I have a new mattress thanks to Simmons Mattress Outlet, a new security system with Blue Ridge Security, an unclogged toilet thanks to Roto Rooter, as well as a go to place to eat in the area with Joe's New York Pizza!
