Sep 25, 2015, 8:37 PM

Found this old postcard awhile back. Thought I would share. Love to see Tillman with the dirt roads.

Does the card have an exact date? Based upon the mention of the flu and what sounds like work in a lab, this card could be referring to several situations, especially the 1918 flu pandemic which killed millions across the globe. Would like to a date if possible.

"Early Divided Back Era (1907-1914)
Postcards with a divided back were permitted in the U.S. beginning on March 1, 1907. (Britain had already pioneered this in 1902.) The address was to be written on the right side; the left side was for writing messages. Many millions of cards were published in this era -- it was the golden age of postcards. Up to this point, most postcards were printed in Germany, which was far ahead of the United States in the use of lithographic processes. With the advent of World War I, the supply of postcards for American consumption switched from Germany to England and the United States itself."

However, it looks like it was mailed between 1917-1919 due to postage being raised temporarily from 1 cent to 2 cents during World War I.

Thought that fit the timeframe! Thx for the extra perspective. As a historian I enjoy examining this type of historical item.

Its def in the teens....but the postmark year is practically gone. Wish I knew the exact date! I bought it from a post card dealer in Michigan. Thought it was so cool I couldn't pass it up. You should have seen my face when I came across it.
