Actually, Notre Dame really isn't playing the NIL game like others. Freeman has stated that if a kid asks about NIL right off the bat, he isn't going to attend Notre Dame. They have more 4-stars than anybody in college football without really playing the NIL stuff - it's about recruiting and culture. And they are doing it better than anybody right now in that department.

I know of another program that does recruiting and culture pretty darn well. I truly believe that’s what will prevail when all the dust settles.
The coaches who just put together a collection of prostitute players from year to year will fail.

He said “ without really playing the NIL stuff”. So we have that “really” qualifier if there is some and there most likely is - kind of like Clemson. Primary draw is culture and if you are a mercenary first and foremost then Notre Dame nor Clemson want you.
Notre Dame is one of the few schools in major football that pushes the student part of the equation. Makes a mercenary have second thoughts about attending. Not dissimilar to Clemson’s academic approach.
The two programs have a lot in common. And Kelly leaving was a great thing for ND.
Disclaimer: Clemson alumnus who grew up hating ND but now lives 30 minutes from ND and doesn’t hate them as much anymore.

Thank you Mr. Hood for keeping it real. I noticed several have asked you your thoughts on how much it's hurting Clemson, but imo not much, if at all. Again, imo, if someone decommits or picks another school because of NIL, they weren't Clemson material anyway. Dabo has repeatedly said the same thing concerning a kid leading with it. Perhaps another article would help... Idk.
Any and all thoughts on recruiting is most welcomed. Thank you again.

highly regarded than Absher or Pendleton. Maybe ND took these guys from us, and maybe not.
Let’s settle down and see where we are in December rather than going off the deep end in May.

If we lose an in-state guy like Freeling to ND (or to anyone actually) I will join the the “glass half full” club with you.
