Update: Gameday for VT... AND South Carolina

Aug 10, 2012, 1:54 PM

About a week ago I posted that my mother who works as sales manager (or something like that, shes in charge of sales at the hotel) at a local hotel in Anderson, told me that ESPN Gameday Live had booked 50 rooms for the week of Clemson VS VT.

She told me last night that they also are trying to book rooms for the week of Clemson VS South Carolina as well.

I had questioned whether they knew where they were going and if this was permenent already and they told her that at any time up until that week they can pull out depending on how the teams play

So as of right now, I Think we've got two night games/Gamedays in Death Valley this year

easy to book and then cut them loose early enough to not get penalized if you dont come in either case

I think we only get one gameday

they don't usually go to the same campus twice in one season

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

I have a friend who works for College Gameday and I can assure you they don't decide this early. I'm sure we're a candidate game (the options are pretty light that week), and because of our limited hotels they may have reserved some rooms, but it's way too early to even speculate that we're going to get it.

Gameday doesn't necessarily constitute a night game either

Although the situation could be different with Death Valley. Gameday came to Columbia in 2010 when we played Alabama, and we were the CBS 3:30 game.

blame them. the roach is in a dangerous area of that cesspool of a city.

Likely booked for ESPN/ABC broadcast.

Not sure if Gameday.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

they reserve hotels

Aug 10, 2012, 2:56 PM

For all weeks at the beginning of the season if it is a poaaibility they may go there.

IF we were undefeated

going into Clemson?Usuc...who knows??

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Being in the hotel industry for a long time I know ESPN had

a lot of trouble finding rooms for the gameday crew at the last minute, even in Greenville. They didn't book in advance.

They might have learned their lesson with this and very well could have booked a couple of blocks of rooms ahead of time just to be safe. It's not easy in a place like Clemson to get a hotel room on a football weekend as we all know!

Forgot to put had a hard time last minute for GT gameday***

Since most hotels in Anderson have been sold out for the football season since January, good luck finding rooms.

It may very well just be the normal room reservation for ESPN televising a game. I imagine it takes a pretty good sized crew to televise a game.

If what Greg Wallace of the Anderson Independent Mail and Jon Tomevi ( http://ryankantor.com/2012/08/10/clemson-2012-season-preview-guest-blog-post/ ) say in their predictions holds true, we'll be 5-1 heading into VT week. Let's say they are 6-0. Would they come to Clemson for a team ranked right around #14 and a team around #11? They might, but I wouldn't bet on it. Clemson USC will be tougher to get because USC just has an absurd schedule. They could have four losses by the time they visit Clemson.
