Monte Lee Interview with Korncoot

Jun 1, 2022, 8:11 AM

Link below and I hope yall take the time to listen. Sorry if Germans.

Monte is a really good guy and I hope he lands back on his feet at a good job. It couldn't have been easy for him to do that interview the day he was fired but he did so with class and integrity. For some reason, I think USuCk snatches him up as an assistant coach which I think would be a great move for him. Or maybe a head coaching job in SC (Wofford, Coastal, Charleston Southern, etc) will open up in which I think he would be a top candidate for sure, similar to Holbrook was when he was let go.

Very classy comments by Monte Lee in that Korncoot interview.

Being a head coach at the D1 level is tough. Neff took a bold move. I hope it works out best for Clemson Baseball and I wish the best for Monte Lee in his future.

I find it interesting that his first interview was with Korncoot.

That's probably as close to a Clemson coach as the school allows him to get - a recent former one.

Why ANY Clemson person would ever talk to that guy is

beyond me ?

Who has the clip of him grabbing his recording device off the podium where a kid was giving his commit to the Tigers when it was CERTAIN he was going to be a dirty ol' chicken ? ?

That tells you everything about his impartial-ness right there.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

I wish it had gone better for him here, but he did have seven years.

I have a lot of respect for Monte Lee. He just couldn’t get it done here. I wish him all the best in the future.

I think Monte was in over his head and did not know how to get the train back on the tracks. According to players/parents I know, theres been a lot of frustration and friction the past two seasons. He seemed to know it was coming and seems relieved to be able to move on. Would not surprise me to see him take an assistant coach position at USUCk or CofC.

I recall under currents of things like poor team chemistry and culture issues. Non specific things but the takeaway being that players weren’t happy. Did some of parents get frustrated with financial promises not fulfilled? I wonder if Lee was struggling to manage the difficult decisions around the scholly allocations. I could see where you have to be a master at not letting that poison the culture.
