Well that's disappointing.

The hits just keep coming.

He gonna get first round money. At least one of the 1st few picks in the 2nd round. Today it's not worth the risk of injury to return. We have always said if you get a first round grade you go.

Re: Well that's disappointing.

Jan 3, 2023, 8:03 AM

Totally agree. Sad to see him go, but I wish him the best.
I hope it works out for him!

Play in the NFL and graduate, his long term objectives!

Next man up on the D-Line….

Go Tigers!

Yes , will be more, brand new defense next year and it’s worrisome that the defensive coordinator couldn’t get the production out of the top ranked defensive line ( ( at the start of the season ) what can he do with kids fresh out of hs. ? he is not the answer but sadly will be at clemson A few years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Well that's disappointing.

Jan 2, 2023, 12:46 PM

Our defense was awesome this season considering the way the offense left them on the field all season!

We keep getting better & better everyday, in every way!

Yes, and no.

Jan 2, 2023, 12:58 PM

The front seven were great. The secondary was a hot mess all season!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Yes, and no.

Jan 2, 2023, 2:31 PM

Were they? This was our worst DL in terms of sacks/TFL/pressure% in several years.

Happy for Bresee but it would've been nice to actually get some elite productivity out of some of these elite DL we've gotten in the last few years. We haven't had a DL that was one of the top few DL in the nation since 2018 with the Power Rangers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The DL was not consistent but they were solid

Jan 2, 2023, 4:16 PM

Not every year can be great.

Best LB’s in a while.

But the secondary was truly bad at times and incredibly inconsistent. On defense, I think this is where coaching really reared its ugly head because I think every one of these guys was a four or five star recruit.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hit? Who didn’t expect this? It would be much more surprising if he stayed.

Jan 2, 2023, 12:42 PM [ in reply to Well that's disappointing. ]

This is the price of recruiting at as high of a caliber we are. People are going to go early and get drafted high. Bresee knows much more than the rest of us that life is short.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agree!! I hate to see him leave for my own selfish reasons.

Jan 2, 2023, 12:56 PM

Best of luck in the NFL. Will be here rooting for you!

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonormyfavorange.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, he's been a 3 year guy since he was a JR in HS,

Jan 2, 2023, 2:32 PM [ in reply to Hit? Who didn’t expect this? It would be much more surprising if he stayed. ]

Don't mind having 5* guys go early, it would just be nice to actually get some productivity out of one of these guys. Is it too much to ask to get an All-American every 2-3 years? We haven't had one since 2018 and it may be a while before we have another

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Davis was AA this year, Murphy last year - I assume

Jan 2, 2023, 3:05 PM

You were just talking DL as there have been others in other position groups

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Davis was AA this year, Murphy last year - I assume

Jan 3, 2023, 3:02 PM

Tyler Davis was 2nd team on FWAA and Phil Steele. I should've been more specific but I was looking for a bit more than 2nd team on lower-level AA rosters. I would say 1st team AA on at least one list and unanimous AA overall is the definition of an AA.

Murphy was 4th team AA last year by Phil Steele.

But yes, I was referring to DL only. For a school that prides ourselves on our DL, we haven't had a dominant player on DL since 2018

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Hit? Who didn’t expect this? It would be much more surprising if he stayed.

Jan 2, 2023, 3:42 PM [ in reply to Re: Hit? Who didn’t expect this? It would be much more surprising if he stayed. ]

It’s football. Players get injured sometimes.

It’s health. Players get sick sometimes.

It’s life. Players must deal with family tragedies sometimes.

A lot less greed and a lot more compassion and understanding should be expected from Clemson’s fans and supporters.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson gave Bresee as much support and compassion

Jan 2, 2023, 8:51 PM

as he could have possibly gotten anywhere. And Clemson got relatively little from him. He was never a dominant force at Clemson, not even against teams like Furman and Lala U. If I were him I would feel bad about ditching out on this team without ever accomplishing anything of note.

Jan 2, 2023, 6:49 PM [ in reply to Well that's disappointing. ]

Those guys are probably leaving bc they don't feel they will get any better under Goodwin, so they are going to get out while the getting is good!!!

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Have to say....

Jan 2, 2023, 12:16 PM

A bit surprised. Thought he could use another year to round into form considering all he's been through.

But wish him nothing but the best....great kid and family

Re: Have to say....

Jan 3, 2023, 7:59 AM

I agree with you on this one. I thought his body of work this year, and last too, didn't give him a chance to show what he could bring when 100% healthy all season, but I'm no expert. I wish him well, and hope he is a great pro. I know he is a great young man.

That is the definition of treading water but when you consider we have put weights on our players' legs from a lack of depth. We aren't even treading water anymore. It's more like sinking.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No one is saying he shouldn't go. It's disappointing

Jan 2, 2023, 1:08 PM

he is not staying and the lack of depth it leaves is now a major concern.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There isn’t a lack of depth at DT

Jan 2, 2023, 2:55 PM

DE - yes, depending on some additional decisions

Page, Williams, Capehart, Ruben at DT even if the others leave which some haven’t said. Will some of the FR get blended Ed into 2-3 deep? Absolutely - no different than when Bressse, Wilkins, Dex did their FR year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That’s an extremely poor choice of words at best and shows a complete lack of self awareness on your part after what this young man and his family have been through. Please grow up.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Watching death come to the door of Clemson Football

Jan 2, 2023, 3:55 PM [ in reply to Watching death come to the door of Clemson Football ]

You clearly know little and understand nothing about Clemson’s depth of high quality DTs … and this depth takes into account the departure of Besee, the likely departure of Tyler Davis, and possible departures of Orhororo and E.Reuben.

Our incoming FR class of 3 highest quality DT signees will keep Clemson at the highest echelon of interior DL play for another 3 years at the least.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Great. We trade one for one.

Jan 2, 2023, 3:47 PM [ in reply to Great. We trade one for one. ]

If you don’t recognize the magnificent depth that we had (and still have) at the DT position, then you should consider paying attention.

We have more than enough top end DTs to win at the highest level for the next 2 seasons … and this is not even taking into account the inching three new new stud DTs from the 2023 signing class.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Clemson defender declares for NFL draft

Jan 2, 2023, 12:19 PM

If he stayed healthy, we’d be looking at another Dexter and Christian type of DT.

I believe that Bresee will thrive at the next level. He’s built for it. He can play in a 3-4 and a 4-3. I hope he stays healthy cause he can be great like the two I mentioned above.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Clemson defender declares for NFL draft

Jan 2, 2023, 8:53 PM

True. We never got to see his full potential due to missing 12+ games the last 2 seasons (and then having to get back to game shape/speed). The time flew by.
I wish him the best of luck. He will be missed.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Clemson defender declares for NFL draft

Jan 2, 2023, 12:21 PM

I get it. If he really is a Top 20 pick it would be really hard to walk away from it. The poor guy has had such a rough year on the personal front and on the health front and I can't blame him for wanting to try and put that behind him and get a fresh start on the next chapter of his life.

Brian, best of luck to you. Thanks for showing nothing but class and a warrior mindset with a humble spirit. You represented the best of what a Clemson man should be and I wish you nothing but the best in your career and your life going forward.

Lol do you even know what you are talking about? Williams, Capehart, possibly Ruke. Mascoll, carter, trotter, Mukuba, Wiggins, Mickens, woodaz has a full year under his belt. Don’t sound young too me. If a freshman is good enough to start that should excite you. Means he’s probably really good.

Good luck Bryan. Thanks for being a Tiger!

I had the pleasure of talking to his Dad and Mom a few times this year. They seem like such great people and were always pleasant and positive even after all they had been through. I remember a guy I worked with one time asking “why do bad things always happen to good people?” This family made me think about that again. Bryan going pro is a great thing for this great family. Gonna miss him and as a fan of course I selfishly would have liked to see him come back but I am proud of this young Tiger. Go get ‘em Bryan.

Love Brian, I really do. And he’s been through more than anyone should at his age.

That being said, he only played in 25 of 39 games (64%).

By Christian Wilkins’s 26th game, (which he’d already played in before entering his 3rd season) - he had 42 solo tackles, 39 assists, 17.5 TFL, 5.5 sacks, 9 passes deflected, and 2 fumble recoveries. Stayed for TWO more seasons and only got better. And loved every minute of it.

I don’t understand the rush.

I was at a bar in DJs hometown and Nick Saban had just left from a home visit with DJ and his family.
The guys at the bar around me were so excited about Sabans visit to North Forsyth. It was a big thing to see old Nick and these guys were like kids . They thought having Nick in town was really something … and perhaps it was, These were ready to whip my &$$ when I told them he was headed to Clemson. Of course I didn’t know that but I was sick of hearing the worship of Saban by these clowns

I wish I had been there when Henry chose Clemson at his tv commitment a few days later. He has been nothing but a Big positive for Clemson since that unforgettable tv commitment . I hope that he is a smash in the NFL. He is a real Clemson man. He certainly made the right choice. For himself and for Clemson,
