Isn't Tom Herman and Sarkisian like the same dude almost?

Jan 4, 2021, 4:43 PM

They're both were at one point the big name young offensive up and comers. Herman was basically the Sarkisian of 10 years ago who went to washington from USC. I'm guessing UT is hoping the extra years of experience has gotten him over the hump and ready for another head coaching job. I mean i guess its a step up from Herman but feels like they just hired another Herman. For other lower caliber jobs i see Sarkisian as a viable hire but UT seems to be way out of his league. Good for him though. Just seems like all coaches are now going to want to go be Bama's offensive coordinator bc thats how you get a great coaching gig somewhere.

When Sark was the HC at Washington and SoCal...

Jan 4, 2021, 4:53 PM

his teams were average at best. He never won more than 8 games at Washington and while his first SoCal team won nine games, that was with players he inherited from the previous staff. He only coached one game during his second year before USC fired him and Clay Helton took over.

He seems to have made the most of his time at Bama but he also had much more talent with which to work.

The fact that Mac Jones is in the discussion for a Heisman

would be enough for me to take a chance on Sark.

I understand he has elite talent around him, but Mac Jones was the lowest rated recruit in his class outside of the specialists. He was never supposed to start.

Hey now. ESPN had this incredible puff piece about how Mac Jones has been preparing for this his whole life and wrote like four pages of goals when he got to Bama.

For those that think he just came out of nowhere and is the beneficiary of several years of #1 recruiting classes full of 5* talent all around him, especially the O line, and Devonta - well, ESPN says you better think different because this young man has EARNED it, every step of the way.

So apparently it wasn’t Sark.

I'm not taking anything away from Mac...

But I do think Sark deserves some of the credit for his system.

Even when we had Higgins and Ross, they weren't nearly as open as Bama's WRs. Sark has a really good system.

I was sort of being sarcastic.
It was just the typical ESPN puff piece jizzing all over themselves about how great (fill in the blank) from Alabama is.

Mac Jones performance this year may be entirely due to Sark being the QB Whisperer.

Sark uses a lot of misdirection and eye candy...

to confuse defenses.

Frankly, I wish Clemson would do more of that.

I guess if you know nothing about either guy...

Jan 4, 2021, 5:50 PM

it may seem like they are the same. But they are most definitely not.

Are Lane Kiffin, Hugh Freeze and Sark the same guy? They have more in common with each other than with Tom Herman.

For the record, I don't think Sark will be an improvement over Herman and predict he'll be gone within 3 years. Unless the bridge was just too burnt, they should have kept Herman another year instead of making this giant mistake of a hire.

I wonder if Urban told Texas he wanted $12 million a year***

Head scratcher for all of us in T-town. He’s not bringing bama’s players and the state of Texas recruits are being pillaged by all other good programs. Texass thinkIng they’ll get something more than what he developed at USC and UW will be disappointed. Also, most of the offensive studs at Bama were recruited before he was in a position to recruit. He left Bama right before a NC game the last time too...

Texas is irrelevant another 3 to 5 years

Jan 4, 2021, 10:19 PM

They'd be better off giving Herman a chance and retaining continuity. I don't see UT ever becoming dominant because they let donors' mood swings dictate their actions or so it seems.
