Texas A&M is kicking the tires of Dabo & Jimbo

Espn's Adam Rittenberg (whoever that is) apparently wrote a piece proclaiming that Texas A&M is kicking the tires of Dabo, Jimbo Fisher, Chris Petersen, and Gary Patterson to replace a soon to be departing Kevin Sumlin.
This probably to be the routine names for any big time job opening's coming up.

So basically every big name coach. Texas A&M are the gamecocks of the West. Never won anything but just assume they are on the same level as Texas and Oklahoma

Their program is not even close in stature to A&M's (now, or historically).
Rice is the South Carolina of the West.

Agreed but you cant blame them for wanting to sniff out the best. We all know Dabo is rock solid tight with Clemson and many dynamics would have to change to loosen the bond. Maybe in 10 or more years after we have 3 more natty's might I see Dabo maybe listening to bama after they've had had coaching failure post Saban.

I don't want to get in a bidding war. I would rather use coach salary to build more infrastructure. Clemson will be great with or without Dabo albeit we would have a couple rebuilding years.

We have one of the best coaches in the country right now. The odds of finding a replacement for Dabo that's as good as Dabo are realllly slim. And this is a terrible year to have to replace a coach. There are way too jobs open.

Did they try kicking the tires on Nick Saban and Bill Belichick too?
Since they're throwing out unrealistic names of guys they will never get why aim low with Dabo when you can go try and hire Bill Belichick? What about Don Shula or Bill Parcells? They're not available?

Can't believe Dabo would leave Clemson. A&M is a step down, IMO. At best a lateral move. They're always going to play 2nd fiddle to the Horns, and everyone there believes they should be competing for national championships every year. I mean, have you been to College Station?
Dabo has built the Tigers in his image - he'd be crazy to give that up. He might get a nice raise, though.
