Texas A&M has 35 commitments!! This has got to stop.

Jan 6, 2013, 8:51 PM

Oversigning is getting ridiculous. It is not fair to the kids involved and is bad for competition level from conference to conference. Once a team has 25 commitments they should not be able to accept any more verbals.

You have to think new NCAA rules are on the way to get a hold of this culling process.

If a player loses a year if he transfers then a school needs to lose that scholarship if they release a player just to free up room. The only reason a team should be allowed to get rid of someone is if they have bad grades or get in trouble

I believe it's similar to our situation after the "dandy dozen". They're not oversigning. They have that many slots available.

still can't sign but 25, no?

What schools are doing now is enrolling them early in school so that they can count them all backwards.

Meaning if I sign 35 I am going to ask 10 to enroll early. Then the next thing I will do is find out what sophomores and juniors were incorrectly offered a scholarship and cut those guys in order to keep me in the 85 limit

The system is getting abused. Beat down.

stealing from the bass masters fishing tourny, keeping the best and biggest, and "throwing the minnows" back, since they are only allowed to enter a certain #!

UGA doing the same thing this year, they have 13 coming in

Jan 7, 2013, 1:08 AM [ in reply to Re: still can't sign but 25, no? ]

in Jan. and 10 will count back to last year.

I think they have something like 33 committed

It should be jsut 25, no more, and do away with counting back and gray shirting.

If you sign some who can't get in, do more homework before offering them

If you run them off, like SS does, to #### bad

If they leave early or get hurt to bad

NO more than 25 in any year and keep the limit at 85

the NCAA needs to step in on this

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep. They were under the 85 this year.....(link)

You can have 100 commitments but you can only sign 25 for this year. You can sign some that count back to last year if you have slots available. They can grey shirt some and send others to prep school or junior college but they can only sign 25 for this year.

Hope they get em all in. Cutting promised scholarships and not being able to sign committed players is a bad deal. It is amazing at the boost in recruting A&M has gotten this year compared to the past several years. Combination of SEC and this year's performance I guess? Looked at their 2011 class, Johnny Football only 3 stars!

Relax...Let A&M have their moment and let the SEC defenses catch onto that offense they run, and believe me, they will be back to mediocrity in no time...
