Texans reportedly rejected six draft picks for Deshaun Watson

The Deshaun Watson saga continues as we are almost wrapped up with first week action in the NFL. Watson is currently on the Texans' active roster but likely not to play this season. Fox Sports analyst Jay Glazer said during Sunday's FOX telecast that the Texans are keeping Watson away from his teamm (Photo: Trevor Ruszkowski / USATODAY) Read Update »

Can someone who understands nfl explain this to me?

Sep 13, 2021, 1:26 PM

There has to be a monetary reason this makes sense. Surely you wouldn’t just do something this stoopid to be petty. Could’ve traded him and gotten six draft picks?? Again probably a financial reason that I don’t understand.

The people in the Texans front office have demonstrated...

one more than one occasion they are not the brightest stars in the constellation, so who knows what those buffoons are thinking.

I think if they traded him then the truth about all the allegations against him would come out as false.

That's just my two cents on it.

Go Tigers!!!

I totally agree solid Orange. This is ridiculous that this man hasn't been able to play football. I know some things are coincidences but this many coincidences after he decides he wants out is crazy

texans seem bitter...

Sep 13, 2021, 1:42 PM

they are clearly done with each other cut him loose already ffs

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

well if they didn't do it after this deal then i don't think

Sep 13, 2021, 3:14 PM

they ever will.

Sounds like they're going to sit out the remainder of his contract to the detriment of him and themselves.

There is no way in the world they let him sit once his big money kicks in. If they are not going to play him thats fine but they will move him. I believe after four years if you are on the roster the first Tuesday of the season your yearly contract is guaranteed. Thats 35 million next year for nothing, there is no way that is happening.

Remember this name: Jack Easterby

Sep 13, 2021, 2:00 PM

Jack Easterby is the man behind the curtains who is controlling the Texans. He is a slick talking, conniving, insecure control freak. He has hypnotic control over Cal McNair, the person who inherited the Texas from his father, Bob McNair.

Over the last 12 months, Easterby has fired a boatload of long term Texans employees who refused to bow down every time he walks by (obviously I'm slightly exaggerating but you get the idea). He is the reason Deshaun gave up on the Texans and demanded a trade. There is a lot more to the story, which I explained here months ago.

Bottom line: Nick Caserio has done a very good job as GM so far. He is a legit football man, but Easterby is controlling the Deshaun trade. There is no doubt in my mind bitterness and vindictiveness are driving the decision making. Easterby wants Deshaun to suffer as much as possible.

Obviously Deshaun's trade value cannot be assessed until the NFL renders a decision. 2-3 teams have made variable offers to the Texans based on how long Deshaun is suspended but the Texans refuse to even consider such a scenario. General thinking is it's quite possible Deshaun could be suspended for an entire season.

So there you have it. Easterby figures this 3 and 3 offer will be available after the season, so why let Deshaun move on now when they can watch him get shredded here locally (and eventually nationally) as more stuff leaks out.

There is more but I'll stop.

Signed,

Mo City, TX

P.S: I will root against the Texans until Easterby is gone.

Hate that DW4 can't play. At least he can get paid and not get hit.

Interesting...

Jack Easterby...a Columbia, South Carolina native, Easterby lettered in basketball and golf at A.C. Flora High School and Newberry College and studied theology at Erskine College and Liberty University.[1] He served as an operations intern with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the summer of 2004.[2]

In 2005, while working as an academic tutor at the University of South Carolina, Easterby was hired by Dave Odom to serve as the "character coach" of Gamecocks men's basketball team, and worked extensively with Dawn Staley and the women's team.[3]

Nobody deserves to get treated the way the Texans (Easterby) are treating him. One thing seems obvious to me, Deshaun 'went against the family' and the are exacting revenge. They took Deshaun's rebuff personally and have made every attempt to publicly ruin his career. They don't care about lost money, it's personal. Plain. And Simple.

I blame the NFL for allowing this saga to play out.

DW4 is the one ultimately responsible. Choices have consequences and he made some bad choices. I really feel sorry for him. He needed a mature mentor to advise him.

The one thing the Texans need is picks... BoB traded a bunch of them away and got very little in return. This seems like it would have been a win for everyone.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The only thing I can guess is…

Sep 13, 2021, 6:47 PM

They didn’t like the when the picks were. It says 3 first round picks, but it didn’t say when those picks were. Maybe they were like 2040 and beyond. Otherwise, like everyone else said, they’re just stupid.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Stupid is as stupid does …

Sep 14, 2021, 12:59 PM

That applies to DW4 and especially to the Texans organization.

But Deshaun is magic on the field. Truly hope he gets it together emotionally and legally.
