Termites

Mar 24, 2021, 2:16 PM

Anyone paid for a treatment lately? Do you just get an inspection and if no finding, no treatment?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

in NC we did it just to make sure.

Mar 24, 2021, 2:17 PM

there is one of those dumb sayings like, "if you live in NC and dont have termites, you will". Something like that, so be bought it hook line and sinker and went ahead and just did it every year.

We have bonds. They inspect every year and charge us for

Mar 24, 2021, 2:18 PM

that.

Buyer of my last house decided to not transfer the bond. I thought it very odd the lender did not require a bond and very stupid of him not to transfer it anyway.

Way easier just to get a termite collar from Walmart.

Mar 24, 2021, 2:19 PM

Don't forget to stretch it good to activate it before fitting it around your house!

I have the green things in the ground

Mar 24, 2021, 2:20 PM

They check them 4 times a year and crawl around under the house once a year
Any signs and they replace the plain wood strips in the stations with bait/killer

Haven’t had any in over 15 years

And here I thought this was really the only way to

Mar 24, 2021, 3:13 PM

do it.

There's another way?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Termites hate gas

Mar 24, 2021, 2:20 PM

spray a couple gallons under the house and you won't have to worry about it.

I probably need to get the man out here. I

Mar 24, 2021, 2:26 PM

don't exactly recall the name of what I paid for when we bought the place, but that was the last time we had someone out. I miss that just being part of my HOA in Charleston.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I never pay for treatments.

Mar 24, 2021, 2:27 PM

Just like Deshaun doesn’t pay for massages.

If the termites don’t like it... so sue me!

Here's a real quote from a reputable company that I

Mar 24, 2021, 2:27 PM

just got last week:

Termite Inspection
Home is single-story brick and siding house with attached garage and crawlspace. Footprint of home is approximately 81‘ x 35‘. Wood moisture content in the crawlspace was 12% to 17% throughout.

I saw no visible signs of termite activity at this time.

A termite treatment can be provided at this location in one of the following services:

Taurus EPLI liquid termite treatment- $1,400.00 with an annual renewal of $150 per year for up to 10 years

or

Advance Termite Monitoring Stations- $465.00 install with monthly payments of $30($360 annually) for regular visits to service monitoring stations.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or wish to schedule one of the above quoted treatments. Thank you

except it also had "floor joists were not visible due to insulation"

Dude wouldn't even move some of the insulation to see if there were any termites hiding out.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Didn't SarahAdidas buy one of those for RyanAdidas?

Mar 24, 2021, 2:41 PM

"baitbox"

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm confused.

I thought THIS was baitboxing...

ringofhonor-rhtig.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's really expensive for Taurus

Mar 24, 2021, 4:53 PM [ in reply to Here's a real quote from a reputable company that I ]

Use termidor if wanting to do a treatment
Advance baiting systems rope you into long term contracts because they have to be monitored
Without monitoring its a worthless system.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Use a product called termidor

Mar 24, 2021, 4:47 PM

For a preventive treatment. Don't buy some upgrade a company will sell. Treatments performed correctly will be good for years. Drill garage for expansion joints, stoops (dirt filled) and any patios unless they are expensive.
Don't even purchase a warranty its 99% a waste of money and just revenue for the company. In 10 years buy another treatment if still living in the house. The $100+ you save on the 9 years will buy another preventive service.

Some guy that in hindsight reminding me of FBCooch

Mar 24, 2021, 5:06 PM

used to say he would just get someone to come do a free inspection every year. He figured they would find it if it was there and as long as they did it every year, he would be fine.

He probably found himself in a pile of sawdust at some point though.
