I saw a minimum -MINIMUM- of 3 helmet to helmet targeted hits yesterday through just the minimal games through out the day I watched. One was on Cole as he was going down and a GT player went helmet to helmet (leading with his head directed at Cole's head) and nothing is called. It was hard enough that his chin strap snapped off and his helmet was twisted. Right before halftime. Remember that one?
Now, I'm old school and wish they didn't pamper these players. Not because I don't want them protected, but mainly because as you institute more rules, then the subjectivity becomes even greater.
After what I saw yesterday (from the limited sample size I watched), Robert Smith's hit last week called "targeting" is an absolute joke and he is owed an apology by the league.
