US relief pitchers gave up 5 runs as the team blew a three-un lead in a 7-6 extra inning loss to Japan.

The first pitcher out of the US bullpen was Brandon Dickson, who is 36 years old and nine seasons removed from the major leagues. Edwin Jackson, a 37-year-old pitcher, who has been released by five big league teams, was the last.

The U.S. (2-1) fell into the losers bracket of the double-elimination second round. To reach this weekend's final, the team has to win Wednesday against the winner of Tuesday's elimination game between the Dominican Republic and Israel, and then again Thursday against the Japan-South Korea loser.
