Why not have a legit playoff? 16 teams. Two pools of 8 like afc and nfc in the nfl. Seed them accordingly. Higher seed gets the home field advantage. Use the bowls for teams that didn’t make the playoffs. Rose Bowl doesn’t have to go. If Wisconsin and Washington didn’t make the cut for the playoffs and those two are the two best left in their conferences…..those two will play the Rose Bowl…..simple…..money is still generated and the bowls don’t have to die. Thoughts? This way no matter what happens with conference expansion, you have a shot….none of that only “X amount of teams per conference play in the CFP” garbage……the CFP will vote on that like they have been since it started. Thoughts?

4 superconferences of 16 teams each.

4 teams from each conference get in, based on records in conference. You don't see the NFL team or any sport using an "eye test" to select their playoffs teams, and neither should college football. Just take the human opinion part out of the equation.

Good point. Conference winners get automatic spot….unless the B1G and SEC decide to do their own natty or something crazy like that.
