Since Winston hasn't played anyone yet, hard to say. But I'll bite:
1) Release: Winston's release is a bit awkward and slow. Advantage Boyd 2) Winston seems to be a bit of a pocket passer, not sure how well he can throw on the run. Same could be said of Boyd throwing on the run, however. Both show good ability on the run. Even 3) Arm strength: Boyd can put a lot more zip on the deep ball. Advantage Boyd 4) Leadership: Boyd has a few big wins in big games under his belt. Winston, none. Advantage Boyd.

Also, noticed this past week a Mary-land, that Winston got flustered easily, early on in the game before they got rolling. I think the pressure the Tigers bring will keep him that way the whole game. IMO!!!

Tajh Boyd:
Strengths - Arm strength of Zues, Balls of steel, Wisdom of Splinter. Weaknesses - Not tall enough, Not Chuck Norris
Jaymiss Winston:
Strengths - DJ Jazzy Jeff haircut, Plays baseball which is cool I guess Weakness - Has Heather Sammich on the hunt for his jock, sensitive ears, Has played 5 games against packs of sleepy kittens.

I don't think Winston is prepared for DV at night.

His two road games have been BC and Pitt... Hardly comparable us.
Take care of business this weekend, and we'll be ready to rattle him from the kickoff next weekend.

From what I have seen

Winston is tall and composed in the pocket he can see the whole field. He does have a big arm. He throws well moving around. Accuracy is sometimes and issue for him. Looks like he often throws on the first read. Might be a little too willing to throw into coverage.

Winston's major weakness: He's never played in front of

an 8PM DV crowd against a Top 5 team with the entire nation looking on.
I expect he'll look a lot like a Freshman on Oct. 19.

Winston has started a total of five (5) games for FSU....
Oct 7, 2013, 3:18 PM
|
|
and while he has looked nothing short of impressive in many of those games, averaging nearly 54 points per game, the opponents were Pitt, Nevada, Bethune-Cookman, Boston College and Maryland.
No offense to the aforementioned schools, but a lot of Division 1 college QB's would posts some fairly impressive stats against that schedule.
Let's see how he does on the road in a real hostile environment against a legitimate top 5 opponent with a multitude of post-season implications riding on the outcome.

the kid is a big and strong athlete but he hasn't

played anyone yet who has put a lot of heat on him. He doesn't have an especially strong arm though he is accurate from what i've seen. He can move but isn't really elusive or fast. He's a freshman and hasn't spent a lot of time getting blasted into the turf with a hostile crowd blowing his eardrums out. Tajh is a Senior who has tons of game experience and a rocket arm. We have more playmakers on the perimeter and a lot more depth at the skill positions than FSU does. Tajh will put on a clinic for the youngster. Mark it down.

My Take - Tajh by a Bit Here is Why
Oct 7, 2013, 3:57 PM
|
|
Tajh and Winston both have about the same physical passing skills, Winston has a touch better running skills, Tajh has experience and very importantly BIG game experience. Winston is not proven in a game like he will experience in 11 days.

Winston never played in hostile enviornment in big game
Oct 7, 2013, 4:04 PM
|

Tajh has won at FSU, against Auburn, LSU, Virginia Tech, Georgia, etc.
Tajh has lead comebacks
Tajh has made big clutch plays when they were needed.
Tajh has run a two minute drill with the game on the line.

Tajh has not won at FSU. Sorry had to correct that. Both are great qb's but I cant pick one over the other for this game I could see it going either way and look for a high scoring very close game on the 19th
