Well, isn't the rule that they have to sit out a season if they enter the portal twice?

Pretty sure he’s a graduate, so I don’t think that applies.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There are no rules anymore. About anything.***

Would think he's ending up at a smaller school.

If he can't cut it at Tech, yep, Group of Five would seem to be his destination.

Appalachian State needs to replace Chase Brice.

Dec 8, 2022, 11:34 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Former Clemson QB re-enters transfer portal ]

TP might be a good fit there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Since it is the wild west, why do they have the 6 year limit

Dec 8, 2022, 6:23 PM

to play 4 anymore? If a player works on a graduate degree, why not let him come back anytime he wants to if he has not used up his 4 years of eligibility? Age does not seem to be an issue. Isn't Stetson Bennett 25. Chase Brice has to be close to that. In fact, if a player gets cut in the NFL, why can't he go back to college if he did not use his 4 years since the college players are no longer amateurs. If you are going to blow it all up, don't be hypocritical.

Some of these guys are in their late 20s that go back and play college football

Dec 8, 2022, 8:48 PM

After trying out professional baseball. Chris Weinke showed up at Florida state when he was like 27 driving an $80,000 Mercedes-Benz. He went straight into minor league baseball out of high school. He was literally a full grown man playing against boys. That is an extreme case, but it’s not isolated. It happens.

Won the Heisman, too, didn't he?

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes, sir. At 28 years old.

Dec 9, 2022, 12:03 PM

There’s just something seriously wrong about that!

The Heisman has always been a regular season trophy, and that made sense when we played 11 games and a bowl game. But now with conference championship games and the playoffs they really need to change the voting until after the championship game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

agreed

Dec 10, 2022, 9:44 AM

Agreed.

And, they need to open the portal before the bowl games are announced. Some of these games become immediate mismatches, with the number of opt-outs

Re: agreed

Dec 11, 2022, 10:03 AM

Or don’t open it until after the bowl games are finished.

Good point now that the amateur status has changed. It used to be you couldn’t return to play the same sport.

Dude you are a career backup... should've stayed at Clemson unless you want to play D2

Study hard. Get that graduate degree. You will need it after football.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

One day these kids will see the portal stats and stay at original school!

Dec 8, 2022, 9:23 PM

Not that Taisun would have stayed at Clemson but he would be in line as a starter at GT next yr.

This is an odd case. He never looked comfortable in the pocket. Hell, he looked a lot like DJU in his opportunities in the pocket. Clearly, he's not P5 QB material despite his lofty ranking as a recruit.

If he can do anything, it should be to follow his younger brother back to UConn and try to play there for a year. All these 4- and 5-star QBs have dreams of playing in the NFL and sometimes it takes a while for reality to set in.

I wish him nothing but the best. I understand why he transferred and understand why he's transferring again.

But I think the best plan, at this point, is to plan for a post-football future. If there is a small school with an appealing graduate field of study, that might be the place to go.

After DJ and this guy’s recruiting rankings, I’m beginning to wonder if these high school rating agencies have any clue. Just as applies to Clemson, I think they miss on about 50% of their ratings. Obviously missed on DJ and Tyson but also Bresee imo. He’s a decent player but he was the #1 rated player in the nation coming out. Based on that, he has under performed and his stats support that….just sayin.?‍♂️

And oh yeah, how about Hunter Johnson? Another 5 star top of his class guy. Understandable he couldn’t beat out Trevor Lawrence but he saw limited playing time at Northwestern as well.

Bryan Breese could very well end up in the top 10 of this coming draft.

Health issues, limited some of his playing time, but his size & skill level is off the charts.

The Eagles may even take him top 5
