Studying numbers for the last 15 minutes...

Nov 18, 2019, 10:51 AM

Team A has the 3rd ranked scoring defense in the nation and only allows 10.7 PPG....most of that in garbage time. Only 1 team all season has scored more than 2 TD's on them and that was 20 points. They also lead the nation in First Down Defense, only allowing 129 FD's all season.

Team B has the 99th ranked scoring offense in the nation. They score about 24 ppg. This is inflated by a 72 point win over a non Major program. If you remove those points, they are averaging 19 ppg.

Team A also has the #5 scoring offense in the nation averaging 45.9 ppg. They rank #3 in Total Offense amassing 543 ypg.

Team B's defense ranks in the middle of the country. They are allowing 381 ypg which ranks 58th. Their rush D is giving up 153 ypg (61st). This is a team that ranks 49th in scoring D giving up 25 ppg.

When I compare team A to team B, I think team A will be able to total control the tempo of the game and move the ball almost at will. Team A may have to punt a few times, but team B's Offense will likely not be able to do anything against team A's dominate defense. I see a game between these two team's getting out of hand early.

Team B's only hope would be for lots of turnovers and trick plays. They haven't been too good at trick plays this season though.

Any wild guesses on who Team A and Team B are?
