Straight up questions. How does JL's compensation compare

Jun 23, 2012, 11:13 AM

with other ACC coaches of quality programs in the conference?

Similarly comparison with national big time program coaches.

What about staff pay comparisons? Retenton of staff?

Scholarship money? Number of full scholarships?

Recruiting budgets (hard to compare this one)?

Anyone really know?

I think he has done remarkably well over the log haul with what seems little support from our AD and the constant grousing of fans when we don't get to the CWS championship game every year.

Just asking. If you don't know forget it. You don't have to answer it all. Just what you know. I'm not looking for typical smart a$$ USUC answers posted here just knowledgeable ones from real Clemson supporters.

Thanks.

If compensation = wins, then we'll never catch the coots ...

I wouldn't be surprised in Tanner passes Ball Sac in salary if he pulls off this 3-peat.

Even with multiple national titles baseball is still the red headed stepchild to football. Tanner could win 10 titles and never make a TENTH of what Spurrier does.

baseball. These are split among a maximum of 27 players. The minimum scholarship that anyone can receive is 25%. Roster size is capped at 35.

Some of that has to do with the fact that he doesnt win Championships so he isnt exactly a hot commodity.

Straight up question(you didn't ask)
When is Jack going to wake up and smell the roses?
Over the last three seasons Ray Tanner has out recruited Jack by almost 2 to 1 in going after kids in South Carolina. The current rosters for this season show a Clemson squad with 8 players with instate ties.
On the other hand,Ray has 18 out of 34 players on his 2 time defending CWS Championship team with South Carolina ties.
Why don't you ask that question to Pres.Barker,T.D.P. or even Jack himself?
And this is not a typical smart a$$ answer. It's a typical a$$ fact.

This instate recruiting stuff needs to go away

Jun 23, 2012, 12:40 PM

Did you see our most recent recruiting class? Almost all of the players are from baseball powerhouse states. NC, SC, GA, and FL.

The best players in North Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, or Virginia are better than the best player in SC. In fact, the third or fourth best player in those states is likely better than the best player in SC. Plus, there are players in other states that have connections to Clemson. Should he ignore those?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not necessarily

Jul 2, 2012, 9:33 PM

Can't go simply on the size of the state or population.

If that were the case, Clowney in football would never be the #1 ranked player.

It depends on the kid - not where he's from.

As a state school, it's nice - as a fan- for a local kid to get the spot over a kid from out of state - if their talent is equal or close to equal. But that's my own opinion.

First of all, chickentroll, he was talking about BASEBALL!!!

Jul 2, 2012, 9:44 PM

Not football....not basketball.....not gay equestrian sports either....he was talking about baseball

Why do you think its OK for you to make a stupid, out-of-topic response to a danged post on Tigernet????
Shove your arrogant chickencrapola up where the sun don't shine.

Great questions. USC spends about 117600 per player. I believe ours is about 53,000. Fla state spends 65700 per player. I do not know what jl receives as pay but Kyle bunn left us to go to Alabama for 2-3 times his salary but I do not know precisely .your questions are something we all need to know
