I hate it for him being a legacy and all, but he had his chance to commit. Clemson is moving down the track in over drive. It hurts to turn 4 star guys away but if you can get a five 5 player you take him.

That's a possibility but we do sub a lot of Defensive line men in each game. Remember the times we had Shaq subbing in for Vic. It was 2 1st rounders subbing in for each other.

They are both WDE's not LB's. You need more than 1. It's ok they play the same position

How does Wynn compare with Mascoll who's already committed? They are ranked similar but Mascoll is some 30-40 pounds lighter. Theoretically... would we have preferred Wynn over Mascoll?

Wynn is more mature physically and relies heavily on his bull rush (could later transition to DT), while Mascoll is a quicker, more explosive athlete with the potential to be a really dynamic DE after adding some mass to his 6'4" frame. Mascoll's ceiling is higher, and in 2-3 years (post-Power Hour, etc.), it'll show.

Wynn is slightly overrated. He projects as a DT in our system and Jeffriess is much better for that spot. Mascoll has a huge physical upside and is just raw on technique. Mascoll is a much better get. Wynn is only a DE in a 3-4 system, such as UGA.

I'm sure he had a commitable scholarship and every opportunity to commit for months and months. It stinks, because he's a very good player who is a legacy, but I can't say I would put him above who we have committed or the two we suspect may have silent commits. I certainly don't see how we make room for him if he is insitant on coming as a DE with XT, JM, and probably KJH. And I definitely do not want to become like these other programs that conveniently have a spot open because someone else got shoved out the back door. It sucks, but our staff does it the right way.

Dabo made it very clear just how many scholarships were available in this small class. Josh Belk wisely snagged one of those DT offers in late January. If you snooze, you lose so to speak. Reminds me of Jamyest Williams last year. Unless you're a 5 star talent like XT, you really can't afford to wait the process out right now at Clemson. On the bright side, the kid is a good enough talent to land on his feet at a major program.

And, we didn't string him along until the end of the process as a "just in case" and then leave him with limited options, like quite a few schools do.
