Grisham signed EJ and Ajou over Hyatt in 2020.

Stellato was a 2021 recruit.

He became recruiting coordinator after the 2021 season. The WRs signed 2021 and 2022 would be his signees but considering how far in advance players are recruited the 2022 is really his first true class - that’s Williams and Randall - I think both will end up being 2 of the better ones on our roster when you look back but are either Williams, Higgins, Nuk, Sammy level?- hopefully we’ll see with getting back to a better passing game plan.. We’re not going to win any playoff games by making Shipley, running game and this conservative non-sense the focal point. We have to win with exceptional QB play and play making WRs complemented with a nasty D. We don’t get the guys on the OL at Clemson to do what we are attempting to do at the level to compete for NCs. Alabama, UGA, OSU get the type of OL for that - we don’t. We have to do it with QB and big perimeter play like we’ve done with our playoff/NC runs.

Obviously, you could do that with every player and at every position, for every school. Hyatt is going to always trump a player who has not ever made it on the field. He was a different class than him. Sometimes people bloom later or it clicks. Why did Brownell not go after Ja Morant? It happens.

Using BB as justification for anything is not going to help your case

We liked Arian Smith and xZavier Henderson better. Hyatt was committed to VaTech and then TN. If he were uncommitted when we missed on those two then things might be different. We might have lost the two we wanted because Scott left for USF.
It is often not as simple as we took dude A over dude B.
We would not have Simpson if Flowe hadn’t decided to to Oregon. That one worked out for us.
