Stay Classy Clemson family

DJ was not the QB we all hoped he would become here. He has never shown anything to be less than classy or professional on the field and off. His teammates love him and support him. I am glad the change was made and I wish it was done sooner. However, that is not on DJ. Him leaving now is not a bad look. He is going to need time to see who offers him and his brother and move on. I am sure it is a difficult time for him to leave close friends and a coach that gave him way too many chances to prove himself.
Good luck DJ !! Always a Tiger and may you find success in life and in football.

His intention was to go to the NFL, that didn't happen so he has a chance to start someplace else next year.

A QB can throw the ball too hard to catch. But, there is no way a QB can throw a pass into the ground like DJ did as MANY times as DJ did. Especially like that first pass Saturday night. I leave it to [you] to draw your on conclusions on that fact yourself.
He should have been on the bench (or gone) long before he was.

The OG's post was not in reference to DJ's passing ability

but his maturity and classiness in the way he handled himself. What's done is done and it looks like he's moving on. Not sure what the point of your post is at this point. He's still a kid.

Throwing an incomplete pass is better than throwing...

a PI and it's also better than throwing a pass behind the LOS when the player is covered. I'm not excusing DJ's bouncing the ball to his checkdown man but I know if you throw it low in that part of the field it's not going to get picked.
IDK why DJ started all season with Cade spending way too much time on the bench. None of us ever will I don't suppose but we all seem to accept that he is gone without much grief.

What is your conclusion? That he threw it intentionally so that Dabo would have an out? That our coach would have no choice? Masterfully done if so. Nobody is saying he was a great QB, not even a good QB. However, he consistently threw poorly. How would him throwing bad passes help him? Not in the portal looking for a place that wants him.

I appreciate your thoughts on this.

I might offer that the situation wasn't simply giving DJ a chance to prove himself it was his service to his team to ensure Cade got a positive start. Dabo didn't hesitate, not once this year, when asked who would start the next game.
I noticed, however, that later in this season Dabo didn't say DJ was the best he just said 'DJ is our starter,' or 'DJ will start.'
I have just as much reason to think that DJ might have been the best for most of this season and plenty of reason to think he wasn't the best after the sixth or seventh game. Most of us didn't think we were putting our best on the field and that's sad and says a lot about us.

While most that visit this board will wish DJ the best and are thankful for all his hard work, a select few will kick him on the way out. It’s unfortunate but reflective of a vocal minority that are mean, petty and ungrateful.
