Spurrier's teams have won with defense.

There is no doubt about that. With the offenses Clemson has had of late, there is no way we are talking about a Scar winning streak without them having had a solid D. I think losing Clowney, Quarles and both starting CB's is going to mean a drastic drop-off on D for them. I also strongly believe Clemson will live up to the hype on D. The result should be the righting of the universe in November. Thoughts?

They've lost several key guys every year for the past 3 or 4 years.
2010 - Cliff Matthews leaves 2011 - They lost Ingram who was at the time considered one of the most dominate defenders to ever play for them. He was also considered the reason Clowney was so successful his freshman year. 2012 - They lost Stephone Gilmore, Antonio Allen & Travian Robertson, & Byron Jerideau. 2013 - Swearinger, Holloman & Devin Taylor leave. All these players never lost a game against us.
I'm not ready to hang my hat on us just winning because they've lost players just yet. I've said this same thing for I know 2 years running now, maybe 3.

Clowney got in Boyd's head and totally shook him. That was the difference.

I had myself almost convinced we would win in the Valley in 2012. I just don't know anymore.

I lost a rather large amount of money in 2012. I lost a small amount of money in 2013. I ain't betting nothing on this year's game, therefore, we will win.

If you look at the scores, Clemson was held below its season points average. Offense is going to be SC's strength this year (unless Thompson implodes). If the Tigers shut down SC's running game (like they did last year) and don't turn the ball over (like they didn't do last year), I see a Clemson victory on November 29.

not rack up more than 300yds and a couple of scores, doubtful they are too worried about Humphries, an unknown running back and Cole Stoudt to really threaten their defense.
Still have to score to win and the pattern has not changed very much....SC regularly scores about 4 TDs with or without a FG or two....Clemson on average gets one drive with or without one big play for their 13 to 17pts...
The problem still remains Clemson strengths do not match up with SC weaknesses while SC balanced offense is very difficult for Clemson to handle.
