Spring Alternatives for Football

Feb 10, 2018, 1:07 PM

How many would be in favor of having a few scrimmages with other teams during the late spring and summer periods?

Kind of what Dabo suggested some years ago like having a scrimmage with Georgia for a spring game. I think it'd be cool to use those scrimmages against the likes of instate FCS teams so we could schedule other home & homes without conflict and not having to wait 10 years before we can find other opponents to get excited about.

Offer like half off tickets so those who normally don't get lower level tickets have the opportunity during off season time. Kind of like a spring training type of thing. Doesn't have to be watered down to football all year round (like maybe 1-2 in the spring and 1-2 in the summer)

What do you guise think or what would you like to see as a possibility some day?

As you know, the ncaa does allow that in basketball. I suspect that the fear of injury is the deciding factor in football.
Instead teams schedule their own practice games. I especially do not like playing Wofford or Furman etc. but it isn’t likely to change.

Honestly, I don't think it would mess much with basketball or even baseball for that matter.

If Clemson is in the dance/finals or Omaha, I would think they could schedule around those possibilities

I have thought for years that would be a good idea. Opening games tend to be ragged due to not having any pre-season games. It would have to be thought out in terms of travel, locations, teams, etc but I think it would be a benefit.
