Sports Illustrated Cover with DW4

Nov 24, 2015, 2:10 PM

I bought some extra copies of the SI with Deshaun on the cover for some friends who had already bought one, so I ended up with a couple of unneeded copies. If anyone in the Easley SC area is interested in purchasing one or both of them just send me a T-mail and I'll meet you around here somewhere. $10 each. Thanks.

what's face value?

Nov 24, 2015, 2:39 PM

Price gouging is frowned upon in these parts.

well

Nov 24, 2015, 2:44 PM

you can get them from SI:

https://backissues.si.com/storefront/2015/cBackissuesSI2015-p1.html

for $7 each INCLUDING shipping. They are on back-order, but you'll get it in a few weeks. I ordered a few.

I'll get mine when they win the National Championship so I can add it to my other one from 1982.

It's worth what someone will pay

Nov 24, 2015, 3:39 PM [ in reply to what's face value? ]

Mine was $9 with shipping direct from Back Issues. Seems like asking $1 for his trouble sounds more than reasonable to me.

Thank you. Not trying to gouge, just figured I had them and if someone wanted one and didn't want to go to the trouble of ordering from SI then it would be a win-win.

the ticket whiners would not agree with your reasoning

Nov 24, 2015, 8:40 PM [ in reply to It's worth what someone will pay ]

it doesn't matter what charges someone has to pay to have access to the magazine (ticket) ----- the price listed on the item is the only "fair" price to charge. Anything more is greedy and insulting to fellow Tiger fans.

In other words, y'all must be new around here......

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My reasoning is sound

Nov 25, 2015, 2:12 AM

Focus scooter and get out of your moronic "Occupy" mode. A "fair" price IS what someone will voluntarily pay for any product...period. Relative intrinsic value of everything is variable and based on market conditions, essentially the old supply and demand. There's nothing evil or greedy or unfair or insulting about any of that. It's the way Western Civilization works.

And why should the seller take a loss on the deal just to satisfy your ill-informed definition of "fair"? Why is that fair?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I 100% agree with that - I'm making fun of OTHERS

Nov 25, 2015, 12:25 PM

it's the hundreds of other folks on here that don't - the ones who whine, complain, bit*h and moan when they see tickets selling for high prices. They don't accept the supply/demand concept or that someone has to pay IPTAY dues just to have ACCESS to tickets. It's immoral to them for someone to
factor that into the selling price - if they ticket value is $80, they believe it must be sold at $80 or less.

I'm just sorry that you read my post too fast and thought that I believed that nonsense too.

In this situation price gouging isn't exactly a real thing, just a perceived notion. A fair price is whatever a person is willing to pay. Supply and demand, Econ 101.

For example, is it price gouging to charge $1000 for a $500 generator after a bad storm? Some people would say yes, but if these higher prices encourage people to load up their pickups with generators and drive 300 miles to increase the supply of generators to meet demand, I would say that this is a good thing - not price gouging.

On the other hand, if I am the first one at Home Depot and buy up all the generators and sit out front charging double what I just paid.... good free market economics, just not all that ethical.
