Spoke to a Coot buddy who is surprisingly reasonable and

Nov 17, 2015, 1:16 PM

Candid.

Doesn't want to go to CU-USC, but is going anyway because he doesn't want to be "that fan". He is expecting a 63-17 type beat down in front of a 50-50 crowd. He told me that we were 1.5 point dogs in the 63-17 game which, if true, I had totally forgotten.

He is also very concerned about their ability to beat the Citadel, as supported his argument with facts and historical parallels with their last Citadel loss.

I told him that he was just being a "conservative" fan, like me, and I thought that they would thump Citadel and cover our 20 point spread.

He again pointed out that they had nothing left to play for, and that their run of relevance was over and could likely never duplicated at Carolina. I hate the Coots as much as the next guy, but I felt sorry for him. He is a lifetime (40ish) fan and an alumnus, not such a great day to be a Gamecock!

I don't feel one bit sorry for any $CU fan. I personally believe they are totally, completely and entirely deserving even manner of calamity that can possibly befall their pitiful program.

He sounds like a good friend to have even though he is a coot. Most of the coot fans in my hometown are obnoxious and arrogant. Though they have nothing to be arrogant about but wimmen's basketball and horseback riding.

Most the coots I know aren't what I call Camaro #####

Nov 17, 2015, 3:17 PM

Camaro #### meaning the typical mouth breathing, uneducated, Walmart apparel wearing bragarts that like to talk ####.

I have several coot "friends" and family members. We have a spoken rule about Clemson and Coot football that we abide to. We talk about the two teams objectively, and truthfully, but no #### talking after the games etc. We also do not text during games.

Works well for me, and keeps myself, and my friends and family on good terms.

Oh, how sweet this year is though! They rarely bring up football...

Biggie you always have a way with words....

Nov 17, 2015, 9:21 PM [ in reply to Speaking entirely for myself..... ]

I remember as a freshman 15 years ago and even as a lifelong fan before that...I always sort of hoped Scar had a decent year so beating them actually meant something. Heck I almost felt bad for them for tearing down the goal posts after breaking their 0-21 streak.

Then the OBS came in and every coot fan I know got way too cocky. And to their credit they had an unprecedented run against us. But the inability of the majority of their fan base to handle success with class makes me hope they lose every single game they play.

If they didn't act like such turds when they were winning

Nov 17, 2015, 1:24 PM

Clemson fans would be more sympathetic.

This generation will never be sympathetic towards them again.

This !!!! All the years we were beating them I didn't talk smack to any of them. I love and enjoy college football, but Tiger Woods stated, they are horrible winners and losers.

of exceptions), I used to not mind if they did well as long as we won our game. After the last 6 years, I hope they never win another game, ever. I make it known too, I will even say I hope you come out healthy, but I hope you lose every game you ever play to said family. I hate being that way, but not as bad as I hate how the whole chicken fan base acted for the past 6 years. Eff them, and all their fans...may they all toil in mediocrity for evermore.

How did he respond after their fifth straight win in 2013?

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

With class and empathy, believe it or not

Nov 17, 2015, 1:34 PM [ in reply to How did he respond after their fifth straight win in 2013? ]

Probably because he knew that it was unprecedented on their side and not likely to be repeated, and because he had lived as a fan through a very dominant stretch for us through the preceding 30 years.

Again, he is an exception among Coots. Eerily rational and realistic.

Put another way, he is the ONLY Coot fan I feel the slightest bit sorry for, and he rejected my pity.

I wouldn't say they have nothing left to play for. When we come in ranked #1 don't think for one minute that's not motivation. Knock off your rival and ruin the year for us. Two problems we don't make playoff obviously and lose to those jackassezz. Is that spelled right?

Nov 17, 2015, 8:41 PM [ in reply to Re: Spoke to a Coot buddy who is surprisingly reasonable and ]

If that happened, it would outlast 63-17 and 5-0 combined... for decades. They could lose 20 in a row afterwards and we'd still never hear the end of it. They would burn their own stadium down and dance for joy.

Tigers will win. But like BV says, you gotta respect every team and every game.

Nov 17, 2015, 9:46 PM

"We have owned Clemson, 5 out of 6. If we beat them this year they will say 5 out of 7. We need at least 5 in a row to even the score.
