this article mentions an exodus of underclassmen. mentions Van Smith specifically.
Let's say the over/under is 6.5 on underclassmen declaring, what does everyone think?

These 21 WRs have been drafted in the 1st round L5Y

Corey Davis, Mike Williams, John Ross, Corey Coleman, Will Fuller, Josh Doctson, Laquon Treadwell, Amari Cooper, Kevin White, DeVante Parker, Nelson Agholor, Breshad Perriman, Phillip Dorsett, Sammy Watkins, Mike Evans, Odell Beckham, Brandin Cooks, Kelvin Benjamin, Tavon Austin, DeAndre Hopkins, Cordarrelle Patterson.
Deon Cain is certainly in the top 10 on that list in terms of potential. NFL drafts on potential not production.

What about Artavis Scott? Do you think Cain has better hands and is a more reliable receiver than Artavis Scott? Scott went undrafted last year and was an all ACC receiver three years in a row. Cain has physical advantages over Scott (size and speed) but a better receiver - not in my book.
I like Cain and would not trade him for the world, but he still has too many drops and has yet to prove he can dominate college level defensive backs like those receivers in your list. If he can't dominate DB's in college he definitely won't be able to do it in the pros. I think Cain can get there but needs another year in College improve his skills to be the dominating kind of receiver we hope/believe he can eventually be.
I think this assessment of Cain is about right: Read more at http://walterfootball.com/draft2018WR.php#VsBw6sQWErG1Mofy.99
"Deon Cain*, WR, Clemson Height: 6-2. Weight: 200. Projected 40 Time: 4.51. Projected Round (2018): 3-5. 12/2/17: In 2017, Cain has recorded 49 receptions for 620 yards and five touchdown. He hasn't played as well this year, but that could be from a few factors. Clemson has spread the ball around and not given Cain a lot of targets as it is using a first-year starter at quarterback. Team sources have been disappointed in Cain's play as well, including some ugly dropped passes. They say he is a one-trick-pony deep receiver who is going to need development for the NFL."
At the end of the day, if Clemson is in a situation where you can only pick one receiver to make a catch to win a game who would you choose? Would you choose Cain or another receiver on our roster? My choice would not be Cain - it would be Hunter Renfrow as Cain's reliability is just not where it needs to be and is indicative that he is not a first round draft candidate right now.

I think it is likely that Hyatt and Wilkins go because they are 3-year starters, but you know Wilkins love being at Clemson and the finish of this year could decide a lot. Hearn and Cain could very easily return.
If we win the Natty... we will see more leave... which is absolutely a good thing and worth it.

Who knows. If they lose, they could decide to come back and win it next year. You would have to think if most/all came back, they would be a heave favorite. If they win it all, they could decide to go or they could try and do something no team has done in modern history, 3 Peat.
Which ever way it goes, I think the staff will have it covered.

why would Cain return?

He's still going to be splitting reps next year and will downfield throwing really improve? He's going to light up the combine and will easily be selected in the first 3 rounds.
Christian Wilkins will have earned his degree, played in 3 playoffs, and assured that he's a first round pick. What else would he come back for?
I can guarantee that Mitch Hyatt would get a lot of love in the Houston Texans draft room because number 4 knows when the games mean the most, Hyatt keeps him clean. That essentially sets his floor at one of the Texans 3 3rd round picks.
Hearn is interesting, but an OL career is always one knee injury away from ending. He will have his degree and deserves to go get paid.
All locks to me.

No one is a lock to leave. I knew he was leaving. Np way he would stay. But like he said he loved Clemson too much and wanted to finish this part of his life. So who knows?

Agents are giving bad advice.

Wilkins and Cain are gone. Ferrell and Bryant are strong possibilities. Hyatt, Hearn and Smith are being told by agents that they should go to.
