Special teams and shot gun snaps

Sep 21, 2014, 1:35 AM

I have always been a nervous wreck watching Clemson play on television or listening to the game on the radio. For some reason I'm not nearly as nervous when I watch the game in person. I actually missed "the catch" because I became physically ill and had gone to the bathroom and was hanging my head in the toilet. My parents were really concerned about how hard I took every loss and I was threatened with not being able to watch the games because of this. I felt that way tonight. I watched waiting for something bad to happen instead of being able to enjoy the good things that happened. Everytime we did a shotgun snap I got a sick feeling in my stomach. Everytime we kickoff, punt, kick a field goal (or try to kick a field goal anyway) field a punt or any special team play I feel sick. I'm 50 years old and I know I shouldn't be like this, but I can't seem to help it.i can't wait for football season to start each Fall, then I catch myself only enjoying games that we have a sizable lead. If the game is close or we have a slight lead I am fixated on the clock and the game can't end quick enough ( I know I have issues)if it is a close game I can't enjoy it while it is happening, I have to erase a game like tonight off my DVR and if we win a close game I have to rewatch it knowing the outcome in order to enjoy it.i guess what I'm saying is I love Clemson football and I always have, but it seems to be getting harder to enjoy Clemson football. It's one thing to get beaten by a team and another thing completely to beat yourself. Well that's my incoherent rambling post for the night. To all my fellow tigers out there who take these losses hard you are not alone

You wouldn't be a fan of Clemson football if we blew out every opponent. Games like tonight make us coming back for more.

It's a great game and a great team to be a fan of

But at the end of the day we all have to remember it is just that - a game. There are far more important things in life

This is so true, I have so much to be thankful for and yet I still let a defeat like tonight's put a damper on my whole weekend. The games are for entertainment and I wish I could just enjoy them more.

After watching Clemson football/basketball/baseball etc. for 20 years I usually can tell when they're getting ready to give away a game. Takes the edge off just to assume they're going to lose close games, and a nice surprise if they win.

I'm hoping to get some sleep this morning after this game. I'll will force myself to focus on the bright thing that happen in this game. Great Job Dee. Deshaun, you bring hope for the future with our offense performance moving forward.
