Spears is one of the biggest dumb-azz so-called "analysts"

out there. I will not waste my time listening to that idiot's "thoughts" on Clemson! He is nothing but an SEC homer who proclaimed that Bama would blow out Clemson in 2018!

Call it what you will, but after watching Saturday night what are we offensively? Not power, not spread, not zone read(an wont run). We have no identity. We have rel7ed on an individual to mask some things. ETN covered the crappy Oline last year. I hate it , but Spears is right. Elliot is the issue no scheme and no identity on offense. Question is does Dabo have the guts to change it. I get no.

No offense but do you actually agree with this? Seems like he has no idea of how our program is setup for the future. For F’s sake Saban has lost 2 or more times 6 years out of his tenure since 2007. Dabo has evolved with the best of them and all of the sudden he’ll stop now? Just seems like wishful thinking from ESPN

The biggest surprise for me was, the difference between DJ playing at ND & Georgia.
ND's defense started the game with pressure, and shut down the run, just like Georgia. We seemed to make some play calling adjustments to help DJ feel more comfortable, and he seemed to have better trust in his receivers.
I was surprised that Elliott never tried (or didn't until late) moving the pocket. They gave up the run quickly, and never really tried too many RPO's
While the ACC's weak teams will make it difficult to have another signature game, Clemson still has a good chance at the playoff. Other than Alabama, no other team really impressed on the opening weekend, and no other team would have beat Georgia, or Clemson (IMO)
tOSU was sloppy, and looked very weak on the back end. Yes, they have outstanding WRs, but their OL has taken a step back too.
Oklahoma struggled, but apparently they get a pass. Who else looks tough from the Big 12?
As Dabo always tells his team Just play the next team in front of you, they are nameless. Play your best version of Clemson, and don't worry about what they can't control.
Go Tigers! Can't wait to see how this team developes.

I posted similar on another thread. What seems to have gotten lost is we lost a lot more than just Trevor and ETN. Think about it, he's got 4 starters on the oline, but they're in different places. He doesn't have a running back that he's worked with except for love shack.
He also lost all of the receiver unit he had chemistry and games with. Ross may as well have been a summer freshman enrollee and we treated it like they've played 3 yrs together.
That's where the coaches fell short. Not realizing it and schemed around it. Plus the only slot receiver he had experience with was spec who is out.

Spears is just an LSU homer wishing Clemson's "window has closed." Saban didn't do anything head of the curve. He just recruits more talented players than any other program and treats them like employees.

Totally disagree. Nobody is bringing up the fact that UGA

did not score an offensive TD. Their only TD was an INT returned 75 yards. If the INT doesn't happen, Clemson could have kicked a FG late to give us the lead. If we missed that FG, we would have had another opportunity late in the 4th quarter to kick a FG to go up 6-3. The pick six for UGA was the difference.
ESPN wants Clemson to go away to get one more of their SEC teams to take our place in the CFP top 4. Their comments this morning about Clemson "fading away" is just ridiculous. Hopefully, by the end of the season a Clemson 12-1 ACC Champ will be back in the CFP with our first CFP game against UGA, and a title game against Alabama.
Then we can tell ESPN to kiss our ###!

Spears spoke a lot of truth.
To be clear, I place most of the blame on Caldwell and the O-line. They were not prepared and that is undeniable. When a defense can play 2 or 3 deep AND harass the QB every single play, your offense is toast. When the defense knows for a fact you cannot throw the ball downfield, there aren't many options.
Still, Elliott was not creative. The play-calling was stale as two-week old bread. We should have seen more moving pockets to help DJ and misdirection to try and open up some gaps on the line.

When Georgia can have 3 down D-linemen and still get to your quarterback.
