Dan Scott Blog Extra: Shooting Down One Very Large Rumor

Does a certain former Clemson coach have an interest in returning to the Tigers? The rumor mill says yes. Dan Scott say sorry. No way. Full Story »

The one I like is the "Clemson Escape Clause" for RR, . . .

Oct 11, 2007, 7:33 PM

as if it came down to Southern Cal., Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Ohio State, BUT WAIT, NOPE, . . . CLEMSON!, becasue we all know that Clemson is always considered in that bunch; if that's the case, why not BYU, the have a NC from the 80's too; too funny ;)

Far fetched I agree, but not quite as bad as you make it. He did live here and his house on Hartwell was as nice as Bowden's. It would take more money than Clemson would ever spend based on what he apparently turned down at Alabama, but again our fans aren't quite as bad as Alabama's and again we got Hartwell, Keawee and some super high end golf communities nearby. Personally I think Bowden will be back if we can win 8 and play others close.

Why even write an article like this? I thought Dan was a pro, not a tigernet poster. Sure you have sources, no need to show off, and I am not trying to sound rude, but really curious as to why you chose to write on this subject.

our complaining than for our special teams. You rejects are stupid to even talk about it. Nobody is gonna get fired until this year is over and when they do, TDP isn't gonna give a rats butt what any of you think about it anyway. Why give the coots more to laugh at us about? Stand strong...grow up...the season's FAR from over.

sad guys.... Richie isn't leaving, Morgantown is his place, why would he leave when his recruits are hitting the field as sophomores and juniors? Besides... who wants to coach a tiger team that has no control and doesn't listen to ANY coach. I am all about Clemson but I can't see it happening.

Dan, surely you are not naive to think that...

Oct 11, 2007, 8:14 PM

just because somebody doesn't have an escape clause in his contract that he can't quit and be lured away from the armpit of the United States with as much money that Clemson can throw at him.

mass insanity right now.So many of us are hot about our current situation we speculate about EVERYTHING! However, it's one thing for nuts on the main board to rant, rave and speculate. It's another to actually give any creedance to any rumor on the FRONT PAGE of TIGERNET. I know you had good intentions but when I read your article, it gave an endorsement to the idea of TB's replacement as coach. I am not saying that won't happen or that it does not need to happen but recruits and other student athletes read this stuff. We're a bunch of nuts but I thought that you might not have fallen off the tree like the rest of us!

It's true... My friend, Jose Rodriguez is considering switching to a new brand of deodorant.

I couldn't resist. I figure anybody who's gullible enough to believe Rich Rodriguez would leave his home state, his alma mater, and his top tier program to take over a team headed by his friend and former colleague...

Re: Dan Scott Blog Extra: Shooting Down One Very Large Rumor

Oct 12, 2007, 8:56 AM

Granted all Tiger fans, players and coaches are disappointed we lost to GaTech and VaTech, but true Tiger supporters know now is the time to rally in support of our team and our coaches, not to start rumors in the middle of the season with only 2 losses!

Also, I was very disappointed to hear the boos last Saturday. Not only is booing inappropriate for a college team, but it hurts recruiting, and there were recruits in the crowd. People who boo a college team should be escorted from the stadium just like a drunk!

Tommy Bowden is a great coach because he and his staff are concerned about the whole person who plays on our team. Our graduation rates are high and our team demonstrates good citizenship off the field. Which is more important in the long term, creating solid citizens or just winning football games so a "fan" can brag on Sunday and have his ego stroked by winning at all costs? I put the word fans in quotes because I don't count those individuals as true Clemson fans. I'll take a solid program and fine coach like Tommy Bowden any time.

Tommy, keep up the first class effort. There are many true Clemson fans who appreciate your holistic approach to life and we want you to be at Clemson University a long, long time.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"True" Tiger fans can't state views that differ from YOURS?!

Oct 12, 2007, 12:22 PM

It's pretty arrogant of you to think that millions of people should walk in lockstep with YOUR opinion of "true Tiger supporter" behavior.

You can brag about Clemson's graduation rates, but Clemson only ranked #27 academically among public universities according to US News and World Report. That's the lowest academic ranking among schools with Top 25 football graduation rates. (http://www.tigernet.com/view/story.do?id=6846) With all due respect to my alma mater, it's a LOT easier to graduate from Clemson than it is to graduate from a top tier university like Cal (#1) or Michigan (#3), both of whom have excellent, respectable football programs. If Bowden coached at Cal, his graduation rates would be lower too.

I don't understand why you Tommy supporters always pose a false dichotomy of choosing between a winning program and a respectable program. I want BOTH. Most of the perennial top 25 football programs are respectable.

I don't generally think fans should boo, but I can certainly understand why they would boo in this case. Maybe if TDP hears 80,000 Tiger fans booing, he'll finally fire Bowden after NINE YEARS of mediocrity. Power to the people!

Re: Dan Scott Blog Extra: What amazes me

Oct 12, 2007, 1:09 PM

Is that Dan Scott, Roy Philpott and the female who runs WCCP continue to work for Clemson. Scott attempts to call baseball games and the other two are on the Tailgate show.

Maybe Clemson should wise up and discontinue the relationship with WCCP's "on-air" talent. All they do is stir the pot, and quite frankly, the Tiger faithful are fully capable of doing the stirring by themselves.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think everyone is/was well aware the WCCP is a huge joke

Oct 12, 2007, 5:08 PM

Whether it's this or Scott's "coverage" of the Clemson/App St. basketball game where he claimed to a "correspondent" but was never there, it's becoming clear to everyone that the people who work for that radio station are, at best, very average.
