on the actual football field. Many of the students were juniors and seniors, and I was undersized, so not many passes came my way. On the last play of the game our QB tried to hit a WR coming across the middle on a slant. Although I was only in the 9th grade, I was faster than the senior, and was already behind him down the field. Well, the senior let the pass bounce off his finger tips, but because I was in position, I was able to come down with the pass and take it 76 yards for the score. None of the defensive backs for the other team could catch me. The PE teachers couldn't believe it. I opened a lot of eyes that day. That moment changed the trajectory of my life.

to play football with seniors.
I'm not necessarily "invited" to play, but it's just so fun to be the most athletic person on the field, and I think it's also good for them to get some fresh air outside of the nursing home walls for at least a few minutes a day.

I’m still in shock over the whole thing. Simply amazing.
I was the senior girl working with the overweight team trainer who taught shop class and taped ankles with blue painter’s tape he bought in the IGA home improvement section. Under his tutelage, I gained a ton of experience mixing Gatorade powder and driving a golf cart, but nothing beats that crazy TD play.
Too bad it got called back due to holding.
