Clemson fan with an intriguing idea

Oct 30, 2014, 5:28 PM

I just heard one of our fans on talk radio proposing a potential rule change that I thought might be of interest here.

He suggested that if a player is injured, instead of having to leave the game for one play, having to leave for the rest of the possession.

I would think that would put a stop to the fake injuries.

And getting a little "long in the tooth", so I don't always retain 100% of the info I read/hear long term

Your day is coming, youngster (as Danny would say)

You cannot stop this because...

Why not insert a 2nd or 3rd team player to fake an injury, to slow play down, it does not matter how long they would have to sit out.

Cheaters gon' cheat

But this would take some serious planning, and would put a weaker player on the field

And it would totally eliminate the spontaneous "FALL DOWN"

with no time outs and a player gets hurt? It used to be a penalty and if you had time outs, one would be charged. If it can be done against an offense, then why not against a defense also.

That could backfire in the worst way though. What if, during a crucial late game drive, Watson gets the wind knocked out of him and has to temporarily leave the field? That could cost us a football game.
