People can develop symptoms years after the initial trauma. Look at all the NFL guys. Not saying here symptoms now are legit or if just a money grab. I'm just sayn'

you may want to find out how concussions affect long term.
You can tire more easily, you can have taste and hearing loss, you can have long term headaches, your concentration can be limited to one thing at a time. Your personality can change and sleeping habits can change.
Concussions and brain damage are not always about learning and being able to play sports.
Just because she played in more games and made good grades does not mean that motor skills are not affected.

I was hit by an 18 wheeler over two years ago, I've went through the concussion thing and still have issues.

Call me a wus..it does not bother me. But after you have dealt with a close friend that still, after 20 yrs, has problems after a concussion, get back with me.
definition of wus: adjective, a weak or cowardly person
So who is the wus? Seems to me I was not weak or cowardly, but are you a wus because you are too weak and cowardly to admit that she could have problems since the concussion? Why not call the girl a wus since she was too weak to "take the hazing"?

is just posturing by the Plaintiff's attorney. The whole purpose is to paint every facet of the case in the light most favorable to the plaintiff. Of course the Defense will probably deny each and every allegation at this early stage. In all likelihood the truth is somewhere in between.

ESPN's Taylor Twellman is a pretty good example of the effect concussions can have.
On the surface, he looks fine. Comes across as articulate, sharp, still has the ability to be a (somewhat snarky and full-of-himself) commentator.
The reality is, he's had memory problems, splitting headaches, and motor-function issues for years, resulting from several concussions suffered in quick succession. And he literally did not dream for years...psychologists still aren't sure what function, exactly, dreaming serves, but there's little doubt it keys into anxiety-relief somehow, because Twellman has been on anti-anxiety meds for years ever since his concussion.
How "debilitated" is he? Dunno what "percentage" you could really apply, but I sure wouldn't want to go through what Twellman went through. NFL guys go through a ton of the same things. Jon Abraham was suffering from major memory loss...and still playing, until he took that last concussion the other day. If he's smart, HE WILL STOP. His brain is primed for even more major damage, and we could be talking severe impairment if he takes even one more big hit. It's exactly the same reason boxers and MMA fighters who were regarded as "invincible" suddenly tend to develop "glass jaws" later on in their careers; Chuck Lidell is a great example...stroke him gently in the head after he turned 39, and he went down.
Before that his jaw was a brick.
People dismissing this girl's claims because it's inconvenient for Clemson maybe aren't giving the issue its due. Sure, she might be opportunistic, but I think it's equally likely she was injured...and if she was indeed injured, the Clemson coach in question is definitely responsible. I think it's more a medical question than a legal one, honestly.

which then led one of the women to immediately renounce her claim, thus proving she was the real mother because she cared more for the baby than she did for her own welfare. It had nothing to do with the truth being "somewhere in the middle."

truth. Concussions affect people differently. This girl's current symptoms may be from years of soccer, but I'm no doctor so it's best for me to not speculate about her.
I've had several concussions and know others that have too. We all have/had different reactions after the event. One good friend (former college soccer player) is having major issues with memory caused by concussions/heading and is only in her early 30's. Personally, I have concentration issues that are getting worse...my doctor speculates it's from the concussions, which were more than 20 years ago.
Regardless of the disposition of this case, the University really needs to crack down on all hazing. It's possibly the dumbest "tradition" ever.
