For those looking at new SUV's, may be worth waiting a

little while longer....Unless Toyota totally shat the bed with the new Sequoia. I honestly had given up on them ever redesigning it, the last model was just turrible.

Loved my 2008 Tundra, and was like, when I have kids I'll

Jan 21, 2022, 12:31 PM

get a Sequoia. Then after having a couple of kids like 10 year later, the #### thing still looks the same. Same engine getting 10 mpg too. Hows come they resdesign the camry every other year, the Tundra every 5 years, 4runner bout every 4 years, but don't touch the Sequoia? Is it because it's probably primarily an American car and the Japanese hate us?

I think they actually made it worse the last time they

Jan 21, 2022, 12:38 PM

redesigned it. The first generation looked better and had a nicer interior IMO. The Japanese don't like change is the only thing I can figure.

Yeah, the model prior to the current one is awesome. But

Jan 21, 2022, 12:39 PM

the latest model sucks. I am chubbed up for the one in your link.

As are we. Everything we've looked at so far seems like it

Jan 21, 2022, 12:45 PM

would either end up being too small, is too expensive, or will be a huge POS...Possibly all 3. I like the Highlander but wife's brother has one so of course we can't get one of those.

Dayem that front end is UGLY!***

And then wait a little longer...

Jan 21, 2022, 12:42 PM

Read up on all the new issues the Tundra is having. Poor build quality. Wastegate issues.

Toyota will iron them out, but considering how much they'll share, might want to wait.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've read about the turbo issues, but I'd be pretty

Jan 21, 2022, 12:53 PM

confident Toyota will have that figured out by the time the Sequoia goes into production. Judging by Toyota dealerships the past year or so, getting one may be difficult, however.

There weren't any around CHS this weekend when I looked

Jan 21, 2022, 1:29 PM

Dealer guy I know got one in yesterday (was already sold) and expects a platinum in 56 days.

And I'm not sure how many trucks were actually affected.

There seems to be one guy on YouTube who has been pretty noisy about his (understandably, with the fix that's required on a brand new truck) and the pics of his truck getting repaired are all over the internets:

Toyota kinda crapped on him with only 330 miles on the truck and NOT (voluntarily) taking it back, But I'm not sure how wide spread the issue really is.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There are a couple of new '21 double cab Tundras in Cola.

Jan 21, 2022, 1:37 PM

Carmax and Vroom want $10K more for the used exact same model trucks with 10-15K miles on them.

I thought about buying 2 of them new, and flipping them to Carmax or Vroom and making $10-$15K real quick.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

there is no V6 Toyota

Jan 21, 2022, 1:05 PM

worth waiting on.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

437 hp V6? The new V6 is more powerful than the old V8

Jan 21, 2022, 1:20 PM

Ok, nevermind, looks like standard engine will be 348 hp. Which should be plenty, right?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

V8's are going away quickly.

Jan 21, 2022, 1:33 PM [ in reply to there is no V6 Toyota ]

Its doubtful you'll see many more in production in the next 5 years.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

sooner or later, they'll update the 4Runner. Current edition

Jan 21, 2022, 2:04 PM

came out in 2010?

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think they did a mild refresh in there somewhere

Jan 21, 2022, 4:18 PM

mostly cosmetic front end and tail light stuff, some other cosmetic junk (blacked out badges etc and rims) and added some xfer case goodies on some 4wd and the TRD-OR models.

But yeah..same anemic 4.0l v6, same transmission from start to now. You could prob pull the door off a 2010 model and stick it on a 2022. They should have left the 2006-2009 v8 in there.
